Presentation that was killed off way too soon

... or was before it’s time (December 2017)

Westcountry Live had a great look in 2002, which barely lasted 2 years, before the generic look came in, although the generic studio was almost 2 years further away.

Another look that could have lasted much longer.

I loved the titles and music but that background on the two shot is all wrong. Looked far too flat. Needed to be an image that gave the impression of more depth.

This now and next menu from the end of the BBC Two personality idents was rather nice. I remember around the time of them a lot of people thought it was a preview for the upcoming rebrand.

Looks lovely. Sure it wasn't a mock - van't remember the last time BBC2 looked that good.

I'd forgotten about that. Quite nice... though I've vague recollections that there was a problem with it. I think the patch was in slightly the wrong position compared to trails and idents.

As nice as 15 regions launching new sets the same day would be practically that's just not possible - suspect in the case of these sets it's the same team installing them across the country too. Besides despite the generic graphics it was quite nice to see different regions have their own interpretation of the theme for their studios, and most did it relatively well.

Hadn't seen that Anglia News at 6 sequence before from 2003 - very clearly inspired by the 4 square ITV logo of the time.

Then you had Border who decided to take the 2004 generic look to go from £40 Ikea comfy office chairs to launch a brand new studio look (which only lasted to Dec 2005!) They even had a big song and dance about the new set Laughing

It’s a sad reflection on the current state of BBC Two presentation when something so unremarkable and bland that everyone appears to have forgotten it existed gets such praise.
