Over the years companies makes stuff, but sometimes there just dont cut it and dont make it to screen. Sometimes were know why, others it's left to the mists of time.

First one is easy.

Here are some others

SO can you think of any other pres that never made it to air and can say why?

Think I read somewhere the clocks in the "Rhythm and Movement" era were made as part of the package and then never used.

Yes, I think it was based on a still from Capoeira which had been blurred.

BBC Marketing at the time made the decision never to use it - due to the delay between analogue and digital versions.

Speaking of unused presentation:

Unused BBC TWO ident that was supposed to launch in 2000 with the likes of Woodpecker, Catalyst and Excalibur. Didn’t even make it on screen.

How long before those various prototype ITV Hearts get mentioned, or any Carlton blue hearts, or indeed the 1989 ITV generics that weren't used by some regions, or those idents that YTV's in house design department made for other GMG regions that never saw the light of day.

I've always loved this introduction on the t|v|a page where the unused 1999 idents originally came from: http://www.tvarchive.org.uk/TVA/?p=TVA/itv1999unused.php

Quote:
As with everything, you have to try, try and try again before something becomes right. Unfortunately ITV missed this concept and tried, got it right, then tried again.... and subsequently delivered blue spinning hearts.

I can't say that I see anything wrong with the 3 videos in the OP. Perhaps the Channel 5 one doesn't have to be so huge and in your face but that could be easily fixed.

The BBC 2 NI was due to debut shortly after September 11th 2001 and was pulled because the Giants Causeway columns looked a bit like the Twin Towers.

A less severe version was created and was shown and this particular version was finally aired as part of BBC NI's 90th

I think that unused clock also had an issue that the red box was in slightly the wrong place

A variant of BBC TWO NI's Snap-Fish ident from 2002 that wasn't aired.
