I found this on YouTube this evening:

Did the clock blooper really happen, or is this a good mock?

Can anyone else remember of any similar occurrences?

Thanks in advance.

It's fake. The clock caption camera was b/w, and the cyan was keyed on. If someone had done that you'd have seen a fuzzy cyan outline of that finger pushing the pointer, definitely not as seen in that clip.

The font is not right either

Fine. Playing it back again, I can see it's a mock now. Thank you both!

It would have been pushed ahead before the camera cut to it anyway.

Incidentally, 5 News' first non-newsroom set (the white look, around 2000) originally had a huge clock in the background (sadly can't find any images). According to a friend who worked for them at the time, the size of the hands meant they couldn't find a suitable clock mechanism that would take their weight. So someone had to pop on set in between each link to move the hands manually. It was noticeable when there was a lengthy studio interview that the time wouldn't change. It was replaced after a few months with a working clock projected onto the set.

Is it this one (or is this the projected one)

Yes, from that set, although that's the projected clock.

Very funny that, although a Victor Lewis Smith creation for TV Offal IIRC.
