You no tha' rockin' hip channel, BBC FHREE?

Yeah alright, I'll stop that now...

I've noticed that BBC THREE has introduced a Drama hour and is trailing it using three circles - one of which contains the day the programme is on and one which contains an analogue clock-face image displaying the TIME the programme is on. The circles float and join up.

Anyone else seen it? If so, have you noticed how "just as identical as it can be without being the same" it is to the Channel 4 scheme used not many years ago? Surprised Never let it be said that a discarded graphics idea is put to waste...

Yes, they've been doing those trailers for a couple of weeks. Very cheeky! (And of course they have three circles, not four, because they're... yup, that's right...)

And what BBC3 didn't seem to consider is that C4 disposed of it within 3 years because it just didn't work.

BBC Three aren't using it for their whole promotion tho, only the Thursday Thinking Hour and Monday Drama Hour, and I'm pretty sure the end caption shows the day and time?

Anyway it's not like all their promo's now use this format.

I hope they do decide to use it for all their Trailers and Promotions. It looks really nice, and is a lot better than the current Endcap design, with the half-sticking out Bar.

I've noticed the guy seems to have stopped talking like he used to. I wonder who whispered in his ear/punched him in the face.

Good to see how well the three-circle idea fits in so seamlessly with all the rest of BBC 3's presentation, especially when it's shown tacked onto the left end of the programme info straps at the end of promos. You know, those blocky straps that look like they were knocked up in a minute and a half in MS Paint.

Well if he isn't going to speak in his ridiculously annoying fashion, he may as well leave; after all, that's what made him a unique announcer... Laughing

He did coin an amazing one-liner though - calling 24 the:
Jack Bauer Power Hour

As good as BBC One and their menu ECP at the end of EastEnders on Thursday. If only they'd added the NOW/NEXT//LATER captions, it would be so similar to another broadcaster Very Happy
As an aside, it's nice to see the multi-channel BBC menu still alive and kicking and regularly used.

ITV! Why do all broadcasters insist on copying each other?
