It became law today that if someone has spent at least £10 getting through to Premium Rate numbers, they have to be told how many other people are trying to get through. I don't know all the details but how long would the £10 have to spent in to get this information?

As I understood it, callers are to be WARNED if they spend more than £10 per day and ALL callers are to be told how many people are trying to get through.

There is an article on BBC News about the changes in effect from today: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6614033.stm

All of the quizzes on Freeview have the new measures in place, some more prominent than others. They all say how many calls received in the previous 15 minutes.

TGBBQ as aired on Ftn have also put up a second piece of information which shows how many of the calls received are being put on hold to potentially go on air. Which is apparently all of them. Total calls in 15mins seem to hover around the 320 mark.

Pop The Q have had a last round caller tally for a while now. Replaced with the last 15min caller tally instead - apparently around the 400 call mark.

Haven't seen Quiz Call yet but I dare say it'll feature the new onscreen features somewhere.

Glitterball, on the other hand, have decided to tack the figures onto their rotating T&C banner, so the figures (12k last I saw it) aren't even on screen permanently in spite of the new ICTSTIS regulations, more like 4 seconds every 45 seconds or so. However having read the statement fully, the details can go on a rotator, crawler or ticker.

Yes you can see why ITV are a little more coy with the caller stats. As by far the most popular service, they have the most to lose by admitting to how many people are ringing in.

It's services like TGBBQ & Quiz Call that might stand to benefit initially, offering better odds but of course their prize funds are smaller in comparison, it's a vicious circle. At the time of viewing last night, TQBQ had about 300 callers a minute whereas Quiz Call was down around 50, this opposed to ITV Plays 1,000+. These statistics might gradually prove to be the death of the genre.

I don't have the multitude of Sky channels so are there actually any Quiz TV channels still existing other than the services which are now programmes on other channels ?

EDIT: According to rumours elsewhere, TGBQ has ceased broadcasting. It will be interesting to see what happens at midnight on FTN if that is the case.

Another one bites the dust.

QuizTelly.com has the full story of TGBBQ ending. Out of all the quiz channels/shows, I think ITV Play will be the last one standing, before disappearing, maybe by the end of the year...?

I'm hoping by the end of the August seeing as the new season starts in September

There won't be much point to that website before long.

True, unless they change it's content to proper quiz shows and not these stupid channels
