I would like to know what proportion of the revenue created by these competitions goes the broadcaster. This dosesn't seem to have been highlighted in programs like Panorama.

Generally speaking there is a 50/50 arrangement - though of course it varies from show to show. For example, with Brainteaser I think Endemol paid Five a fixed price to broadcast the show and kept the profits for themselves.

Also, I've been going on about this from the start - the Government are coining in 17.5% of revenue in VAT too - something completly ignored by even the likes of Panorama. I was beginning to think I might be wrong (never Wink ), but everything I've read about premium rate numbers suggests VAT applies.

so the Goverment likes these Programmes?

also if a Redund is required do the Goverment still keep there 17.5% and the companys loss out big time?

It would be interesting if ITV are gonna do what they said on the programme that they would inform viewers of the call volumes, I think it would put people off knowing there are 200,000 people calling and 0 on air!!

I don't see why it wouldn't, it applies to normal phone calls after all

One night I'm going to tape S**tterball , Fake Your Play , The Counterfeit Mint or whatever's on, and find out how obscure the answer is. Then I'll complain to Ofcom (sorry, Of con ).

Loving Paul O'Grady's reaction to all this.

Yesterday we got a longer than normal warning, with: "No-one's forcing you to enter this you know. We're not grabbing you and making you dial your phone." And today when he didn't hear a caller's answer but the correct answer jingle went he said: "I've got to hear it myself, I don't want to end up on Panorama." Laughing

Yeah, I wouldn't bother with Ofcon. They are far more interested in tackling violence in soaps. What violence? Perrrrlease!

It does seem strange that you will feel the full might of OFCOM for swearing before 9 or something too explict on a subcription porn channel - but something that rips people off?

Carry on!

People will complain if the word "fiddlesticks" is used before nine, and they also complain that a person was broadcast with his/her breasts/genitals exposed - on a programme about doctor's surgeries or nudist colonies where it can only be expected... In the meantime, ITV Play is ripping people off overnight who are drunk, tired and generally gullible. I mean, TUNA in a grid without a U, SEAN as a girl's name, rawlplugs in a woman's handbag... Shocked Mad

Suppose its ironic that Fake Your Play's Alex is working for The Bulls**t Detective on BBC3!

Cash Call it seems has left EMAP's The Hits channel again for while. There is something definately dodgy going on there and it digusts me to be honest. Mad
