No that was originally reported at launch but was inaccurate. Both itv2 +1 and itv 3+1 are 24 hour channels.
Indeed.
The current situationon on Astra, rather bizarrely, is ITV2+1 on channel 211, twenty four hours a day, minus anything they don't have further repeat rights for, where a caption replaces the programme; and ITV3+1 on channel 213, twenty four hours a day, minus anything they don't have further repeat rights for, where a caption replaces the programme.
I'm not sure what, if anything, is on channel 215, but my intelligent bet would be a move of ITV3+1 from 213 to 212 if ITV4+1 is added, so the new channel can go on 213.
So ITV Play has officially been dumped then, or is about to be officially dumped on Thursday. Can't say it surprises me, really. Greg Scott's updated his site - http://gregscott.tv/id35.html - and apparently the entire output of ITV Play passed with flying colours including the blatant rip-off that was ITV Playalong. One can only wonder how Catalynsdad and co will fill their post Play DJ days up now.
I'm not quite sure why the announcements are stating that ITV2+1 is new to satellite, because it isn't. It's only new to Freeview. Hopefully its only temporary until something else comes along as that's now three timeshift channels on Freeview, only one of which we know is temporary, one is permanent and the new one could be either temporary or permanent.

Why can't people understand that the audit was to make sure the shows were fair and legal. The audit was not concerned with looking for rip offs, blatant or otherwise.
ITV Play is no more - or soon to be no more, still says 'currently unavailable' on my Freeview set the moment. It should have gone the moment Quizmania went. Or even better, never started up as a channel in the first place.
This is a good step for ITV. Finally seeing sense under Mr Grade's control. Even though he stated ITV Play was "not like gambling" on ITV News the other day. Bit careless.
Welcome back ITV!
- Oh, and it would be great to have Catchphrase back weekdays with Greg hosting. Stick that in your 5 O'clock slot.
Ach - they've got one of those bloody vertical-word puzzle things on now.
The phrase 'knowing the answer' was used earlier, which is completely unjustified considering no-one can possibly 'know' - it requires no real knowledge and is a complete gamble given the amount of possible combinations. The correct answer might not even be an english word - I've seen other quizzes do such.
The sooner these are off ITV1 permanently, the better.

Complain to Ofcom. [I'm serious]
Well, if I had even a shred of belief that a complaint about it would be acted upon, I'd do so. But I won't waste my breath when it would make sod all difference.
That spiel on Greg's website has made me lose any shred of respect I had for him. What a loser. A toast to ITV Play? Sad, penniless people paid you Greg, on a premise that they would be given a fair crack at winning a few pounds. You say you're going to pursue your hopes and dreams in other projects, which means you were a sell-out on ITV Play and Price-Drop TV.
Face it mate, you want to be the next Bruce, Les Dennis or Bob Monkhouse, but in reality you'll just be a sad, washed up former warm up act.

That would seem a little unfair to me. For starters I'd toast to a company that kept me in work for long enough and brought me closer to my dreams which brings me onto your suggestion that Greg's a sell out. If Greg has ever claimed that ITV Play or Shopping TV was his dream job then you're perfectly justified in that, otherwise I don't get your point.
I take your point about the people who put their money into Quiz and Shopping channels though, I personally wouldn't want to work in that area because to me it often seems unfair towards the people you've labelled sad. Easy for me to say though, it's not my line of work and I doubt I'd be good at it.
As for Greg wanting to be the next Brucie, what is wrong with wanting to be something. Dreams are what keep us going aren't they? Your last line just sounded bitter to me.
Just for the record I'm not particularly a fan of Greg's, I've watched little of his work and know most of what I know of him from the forum.
I think Greg can't be completely honest about ITV Play as a matter of loyalty to ITV (assuming that's who's keeping him in employment). He makes mention of extremely low budgets and and the channel not being viable based on how it was running even before the investigation. I can believe this based on the fact that QM was giving out pitifully low amounts of prize money for more than a month before it ended. ITV evidently didn't want to admit defeat for the channel but it's only now that they have an excuse to end it. I guess they have contracts with some presenters etc to see out else risk being sued.
It's a rather sorry state of affairs but I have to say anyone defending 'call and lose' telly as a valid form of entertainment is in denial for whatever reason. If you like a presenter, fair enough. There's no value in the rest of it.
Hmm, given all this revealing of the magician's secrets type of thing, can they not kill off ITV Play altogether? It did give much undeserved oxygen of recognition to Greg who, a nice bloke in person when/if not on I imagine, doesn't rise much above dodgy comperé at a working men's club when it comes to actually entertaining someone and seems somewhat false and overdone (and I doubt Alexia's opinion of him is misled or even bitter. He is a shyster who, though narrowly beating Harry Hill on the "annoying unfunny man becomes popular comedian somehow" stakes, will go on to better things but then so did Joe Pasquale.) But he's not the point of my malice though, mines levelled squarely at something a bit bigger than facile "entertainers", late-night gambling posing as entertainment.
Seems to be the filler when you got crap else on at night, if it isn't some impossible puzzle then it's poker. I really do dislike poker, might not have to pay anything to watch but my god, it's like some odd psuedo sport which only gained the title of sport because it attracted enough money which is only entertaining if you're playing and actually winning. I'd be happier to see the back of that type of programming because during the audit I actually was happy to see something else on ITV1 and five which wasn't some souless muppet gurning at me and begging for me to piss my money up the wall during their speed round. Sure, it was fairly average rate films hastily plonked in at short notice and five returing to late night sports once more but it was much better than having having two channels being taken over by legalised robbery at £1 a minute.
What with the recent lifed ban on gambling outlets advertising on TV and the whole blll that created this atmosphere, I've come all over Simon L and have a feeling someone wants gambling to be acceptable in the interests of a liberal society or filling some emptyish coffers and it won't do.
