It wouldn't surprise me if ITV opted to axe the channel and instead keep the 'ITV Play' brand as an overnight slot on ITV1 and ITV2. Alternatively they could make radical changes to the channel, perhaps making ITV4 24hrs and reducing ITV Play hours to 6pm-6am.

I've no idea what ITV Play's revenue is during the daytime or evening, though if I recall it's the overnight ITV1 slot which makes the most money. Whilst I don't think it's the end for quiz channels I suspect the quiz probe will result in changes being made.

There has never been an official breakdown, but you only have to compare the prize levels to work out where the money is.

Re: 24 hr ITV4 - what would they fill it with? I agree though ITV Play's daytime hours could be better used.

Also the problem of coverage - alot of areas don't get Mux D, which contains ITV Play, so many viewers would lose either CITV or ITV4 if the channels were reshuffled.

and bring back Quizmanana ?

Perhaps the best get out would be for ITV to close the ITV Play channel and instead sub-let the space to other operators to run their own channel. ITV still be making money from it - but their brand wouldn't be as connected.

Well that is what Channel 4 smartly did with Quiz Call. They could have easily branded it Quiz4 and would have damaged the C4 brand IMO.

Yup, still off air Smile Very Happy Twisted Evil

Digital Spy reporting that "until further notice" ITV Play will only broadcast when simulcast on ITV1.

And Media Guardian reporting that finally ICSTIS have realised it's not just TV who profits from premium rate phone ins - the radio stations have been called in for tomorrow.

Just hope they get round to the press soon - after all, the latest allegations against radio - Suggs requesting your requests on air at the same time as being live on Ant and Dec on ITV1 - surfaced in the Mail on Sunday.

(The same company that part own Teletext of course, which launched Teletext Games last month!)

according to the front pages on the ITV News, The Sun are tomorrow leading with a story saying that David Gest was wrongly voted out in last year's I'm a Celebrity

Don't you think the papers are cluching at straws now. We've done the phone scam story, move on
Secondly, who cares about David Gest not winning IACGMOOH, it was months ago, what next, the News of the World reveals how 'Gareth Gates should have won Pop Idol' shocker?!

Not surprised at all - thought this would happen long before the scandal due to the ITV1 slots being where the money is made. Compared to what ITV pay for the channel slot, the channel itself is probably losing alot of money.

Seems ITV Play overnight will continue. They are just closing the dedicated channel.

Back to the C4 story - no surprise Eckoh are involved again - but this time it's a minor issue - and as I said in relation to Dancing on Ice, IMO it's the callers fault, not the TV company or phone provider, if people phone in after being told on air lines are closed.

Quote:
During last Saturday's edition of The Morning Line, the Monkey Business phone-in closed at 8.35am and viewers were clearly advised on-screen of the closing time during promotion of the competition.

But due to a technical fault, some calls were misrouted and Eckoh was unable to change the message on the phone lines to indicate to callers that the competition was closed.

Around 100 calls were received after the cut-off point - these calls have been logged and the callers will be reimbursed.

What next - voiding all election results because someone turned up at a polling station after 10pm?

Very Happy -This similey speaks for itself.

Wonder what will replace it. In the short term, I wonder if Men & Motors will return to DTT?

EDIT: The message on the ITV Play channel now reads: 'Daily after Midnight' I guess that's referring to the ITV1/2 slots.

Why? It's just like ITV4

Thank goodness the channel's coming off air. It was rubbish in the first place.

Ooh, my speculation three pages back was spot-on (for once).

Hallelujah!

Now watch them lease the space out to a shopping channel. Wink

Didn't know that but I can't get Mux C and D unless I have my aerial adapted.
