Just seen the ITV News story on this. They obviously don't know how to reassure viewers themselves. Clearly they're only thinking "How can we still get profit from this now the viewers don't trust us? Err, stick a proof of conduct logo on each competition, that'll do"

Ridiculous!

Talking of Freeview - it mainly consists of Quiz programmes on all commercial channels from midnight and, it seems that Quizcall is still shown when Five don't have anything else on... especially Five US and Five Life. Its just getting stupid.

Meetings do need to take place and I hope the outcome is promising.

On Freeview at night when I was flicking through one night last week ITV2, Five, Five Life, Five US, TMF, The Hits as well as ITV Play and Smile TV were all showing these sh*te "gameshows"

The ones that annoy me most are The Hits & TMF, surely they could just leave their music playing 24hrs a day like they used to

Hopefully someone sees sense and bans most of these

So Tony Blair is even in on the act now - though if I'm not mistaken the government themselves were criticised not so long ago over one of their helplines (probably the premium rate complaints hotline! Wink ) being a premium rate service.

ICSTIS ban TV from using them, they have to ban them completly.

ICSTIS, as incompetent as they seem to be, are hardly likely to ban everything that had created their regulatory existence!

It would be abit like Ofgem calling for all power stations to be closed down Rolling Eyes

Ive got to stick up for ICSTIS here.

I received a text message saying that I had won a new phone and I had to call this number to get it.
Im not thick and I am aware of the scams but this message said that I had actually won one.
I thought that I could always complain.

Anyway as you might guess it was a prize draw. I complained to ICSTIS and sent them the text. Long story short ICSTIS fined the company responsible 5K.

Made me feel better

Last night's film The Hard Way averaged 500,000. Glitterball last Wednesday averaged 200,000 (although that average goes up to 0400, and the film last night ended at 0150).

Quiz Call is off air as well but according to quiztelly.com it'll be back tonight.

Slightly different situation with Brainteaser - pretty unbelievable actually considering the difficulty of their competitions. The issue is the use of fake names because people haven't got the correct answer!

Quote:
Endemol discovered irregularities with Brainteaser's newly introduced, Quickfire element of the quiz where viewers are given a set time, approximately five minutes, to solve a word jumble puzzle.

The Big Brother producer found five separate incidents when Cheetah, working through a list of callers supplied by the phone service provider after lines had closed, was unable to find a caller with the correct answer.

Instead of informing viewers that no winning caller had been found, Cheetah put fictional names on screen as "winners" and on one occasion a member of the production team went on air as a "winning" contestant. The incidents occurred between January and Tuesday this week.

They say they'll give refunds to the people affected - but surely if they're so thick they are ringing in with incorrect answers to clues like "LL WA PER PA" they haven't been conned at all, but are just thick and unsuccessful.

The problem here is the use of fake winners, rather than letting someone through and them giving an incorrect answer or saying no selected contestants had the correct answer.

It was nice to see a Postcard from Russell Grant at 1.30pm this afternoon. Haven't seen one in ages...

Main announcement is introduction of a licencing system within three months for participation TV programmes/channels, with the development of a quality standard kite mark to be discussed.

No arguments there - but it shouldn't be restricted to just TV, but to all premium rate competitions.

It is so ridiculously easy for anyone to set up a premium rate number at the moment - I nearly did it myself by accident last night! Wink
