As unethical as they might be, I don't see any of the traditional ITV Play formats being too much of a problem - but Play DJ/Playalong should raise some questions when you have to spend £50 for a one in a billion chance of winning a tenner.
Surprised the TwoWayTV software wasn't flagged up months ago considering the odds of even matching four numbers are high. You stand more chance of winning £10 on the National Lottery.
That isn't what this investigation is all about though. People are free to spend their money playing games that they have very little chance of winning. This is just an investigation to make sure that the games are fair.
I wouldn't play the Lotto or any game currently on ITV Play. Its not because I don't trust them, its just that the odds are not good enough for me.
I'm not one of these people who is against quiz channels and wants to see them all closed down. I wouldn't want to deny anyone the chance to play or any company the chance to make money from these games. I did quite nicely out of quiz channels when they were a new type of television. (the early days of You Play, Nation 277 and Quizmania gave me my biggest wins) Now, the odds aren't good enough for me. Mainly caused by less companies broadcasting harder games on more mainstream channels.
The film averaged 300,000 viewers, on Monday night Glitterball averaged 200,000. Bear in mind this is over a few hours - both start high and decline gradually (with the film last night getting a good inheritance from the footy).
That's interesting and perhaps could be a signal to ITV that there is an audience for films during the night.
If they must insist on returning ITV Play to ITV1 at night then why not close the ITV Play channel during those hours and use the Freeview bandwidth for an ITV Classic Movies channel. That way they'd still have their revenue but provide an alternative for the 70% of homes with access to digital TV.
Still glossing over the fact that it's not just TV that uses premium phone lines. Frankly, if ICSTIS ban TV from using them, they have to ban them completly.
Whatever happens, Eckoh are screwed - it's their name which is coming up again and again and again!

Well I know for a fact The X Factor don't use Eckoh for their voting, so what's to say the papers are telling little porkies about a few other shows too?
I really think it's pathectic the press taking the moral highground when they're the biggest liars in media.
I can't beleive anyone actually plays some of those late night competitions. Well I can beleive it, I just don't get why people get pulled in when its plainly obvious the chances of winning are so slim.

I don't believe any channel which thinks that rawlplugs and a balaclava are amongst items that you find in a lady's handbag!!!
Just seen the ITV News story on this. They obviously don't know how to reassure viewers themselves. Clearly they're only thinking "How can we still get profit from this now the viewers don't trust us? Err, stick a proof of conduct logo on each competition, that'll do"
Ridiculous!
Talking of Freeview - it mainly consists of Quiz programmes on all commercial channels from midnight and, it seems that Quizcall is still shown when Five don't have anything else on... especially Five US and Five Life. Its just getting stupid.
Meetings do need to take place and I hope the outcome is promising.
