I know they've had a bunch of extras so far this year, but we're heading in to the official pack of Amazon's Premier League coverage, so I thought it might deserve its own thread.

It's interesting to see that they're plugging the presentation team as much as the match itself, eg with this tweet for tonight's match:

It looks like they'll be making some more use of the BT Sport/S+V roster later in the week too:

A word that I've had no problems at all tonight with #LEIBHA enjoyable team too.

Just a quick screenshot of their post-match coverage and a few observations:
*
- Handheld mics while seated at a desk is an odd combo - my initial thought is that they're wanting their logo on screen as much as possible in case any of the pundits say anything noteworthy enough to do the rounds on social media.
- star filter on the lens to make the stadium lights look a bit more glitzy
- and as I mentioned in the other thread, not just a Christmas tree on set, but what appears to be a real one too, which was a nice touch. I can't remember them making much reference to the time of year on last year's matches.

Well, this time last year, it was a case of 'feet under the table' and let S&V guide as much as possible. Nothing too brash, nothing too dull.

This time, with the few more unexpected games they've been given before the package of rights they hold kick back in, you expect a little more in the way of 'swagger' and confidence. A Christmas tree with baubles in the Amazon Prime corporate colours is just one of these..

To be fair, last year they very much hit the ground running: the first matches didn't have any kind of preamble to set out their stall - they just launched straight into it as if they'd been doing football for years.

Not particularly - that is pretty much the normal for live sports coverage, especially in current times.

A few days? Pah, that's nothing. I've seen Mark Pougatch go from BT Sport Score to live boxing on ITV with only an hour in between.
UKnews, Brekkie and harshy gave kudos

Looks decent on my phone but it only says HD should it not be UHD HDR HLG on a iPhone 12 pro ?

Could well be HD HDR (using HLG or HDR10) - they may restrict the formats to HD on mobile devices?

The BBC iPlayer UHD HDR DASH manifest contains 2160p, 1440p, 1080p and 720p HDR HLG variants for example - it would be relatively easy for BT to deliver a restricted DASH manifest to mobiles removing the highest resolution tiers

The iPhone Max only has an 1170p display - so streaming anything more than 1080p is relatively pointless - and the BT Sport OTT solution may deliver manifests (or select streams in manifests) based on client resolution?

ISTR that the early BT Sport HDR test on mobiles were HD HDR10.
