Also, talking about region splits, I wouldn't of put the Oxford transmitter on the BBC South region, I would of added it to the Midlands and given it an opt out, like it has now.
Then again, its probably better with the South because Midlands Today probably wouldn't cover it very well. Although I wouldn't exactly call Oxfordshire the South. Not when its compared with places like Southampton.
Maybe when Oxfordshire left NewsroomSE, Midlands Today should have given up Herefordshire and north Gloucestershire, so those areas could become BBC South Midlands, based in Oxford. BBC Birmingham would then stick the word 'West' on the beginning of everything.
This would make the way thet the BBC splits up the midlands match Carlton's method (West, East and South). After all, MT is presumably covering a noticably larger area at present than EMT, but the 3 Central News sub-regions are probably all similar in size. This means that a 3-way split of the midlands allows for more TRULY LOCAL news than a two-way split!
Don'e forget about BBC Spotlight Channel Islands from Jersey - that has to be the smallest!
Also when the NSE split happenes, London Live or South East Today may be the smallest!

Considering for the last 40 years Oxfordshire has received its local news from London, to start getting it from Birmingham instead I think would be a too big a psychological leap. But then again I agree it seems a bit too far north to call it the South.
I think the only region it comfortably fits into is the South East...
How about keeping the South East region as it was, then having ten minute opt-outs for both Oxfordshire and Kent?

Got to be South East Today - although London Live may only be coming from Crystal Palace, that transmitter still covers a very big area!

Isn't this rather self-contradicting?
If Oxforshire's too far north to be 'South', then it doesn't matter if you distinguish between Middle South and SE - If it's too far north, it's too far north!
From a north/south point of view, which region Oxfordshire should be in is probably impossible for all to agree on (MT and SToday have fairly equal claims). But I think it's too far west to be part of SE, so why it ever was is beyond me! It should always have been with SToday (or MT).

Talking about North West Today and the relaxed/serious parts, the lunchtime programme had a few little things in it today! There was a story about an ice cream truck being fitted with sensors so it can detect children. After the report, Tony Morris said 'I'll have a 99 please!'. Also at the end, he was so colloquial as to say 'cheerio' at the end! Due to sound problems we finished slightly early, so at the end we got a nice long piece of bed followed by the full closing titles, which was nice!
Well, it looks as if BBC Regional programmes have won! 81% - quite a majority!
So which is the worst region? By whats been said in this thread it sounds like Midlands Today. The worst one for not showing titles on screen, and just on the plasma is Look East!
I think it was in this thread we were talking about which one is the biggest - Midlands Today was suggested, and I think Look North, but what about Spotlight?
Personaly, my worst region is my own, Points West. I get fed up with it and I cannot stand David Garmston. I think his comments are useless and the jokes are not funny. I also think the morning presenters are boring.

Points West is the most-watched regional news programme on either BBC or ITV, isn't it?! I'm sure that's what the website says! If that's true, then surely it can't be the worst region! BBC North (Leeds)'s regional programmes such as North of Westminster and Close Up North are often poorly presented, particularly in terms of on-screen graphics and presentation; the trailers for these programmes are often shocking and are in breach of the BBC's standard format!

I have to say that I don't like BBC North's other programmes.
