I've never understood paying another £15 for a PPV match, inside a package that you're already paying a massive sum of money for.
Especially since we're in lockdown again and people have been made redundant or furloughed, it's not fair on those who want to watch those matches, especially on a regular basis.
I'm glad Sky have abandoned this process for now.
Once again it needs saying that Sky and BT had nothing to do with the PPV decision, these matches are over and above their contracted matches.
1. They were offered initially at the end of last season by the Premier League as extras for which the broadcasters could broadcast for 'free' including the BBC.
2. A similar arrangement appled at the beginning of this, excluding the BBC
after one game
this time.
3. The CLUBS and LEAGUE then decided to do something different, stating a price - £14.95 that they would be prepared for BT and Sky to charge fans for these matches, they agreed for a small fee. This outraged fans, whether this outrage was justified is questionable I'll agree.
4. Following the campaign against this the Premier League decided 10 days ago to abandon this practice and revert to the system in place at the end of last season which includes the BBC until the end of January 2021.
What happens for February's fixtures is still to be decided.
