Its not terrorist related.

I think this may be why the chatroom is down..aren't the servers in new York?

Apollo is in New York. I would have thought Thantos would have gone down aswell. Try connecting to copper in Ohio as that is normally up.

Anyways - I understand the big towers will have had to been evacuated but I'm more interested in the fact that one power station can knock off the whole North East of America. It's ludicrous.

New Yorkers of course making a fuss out of nothing - so what. I got snowed in without power for three days the other year and I survived. tsk.

I'm surprised at the GMTV coverage of it... they used the screen and explained it all very well and clearly, with all four of today's presenters getting up by the screen, Ben and Kate actually doing it together. They also had correspondants in New York and at Heathrow, as well as speaking to a number of people in Cleveland... well done GMTV on this one.

And also pleasing to hear Adrian Britton on the Morning News on ITV... staying up past his bedtime but I suppose it's for a good cause.

Think all the correspondents in NY were mucking in together. The only reason the GMTV reporter was able to do the live was because she borrowed one of the BBC mobile phones for a cue feed (all the IFB - talkback - lines were down). Funny watching the EBU feed with correspondents from different countries all doing the same thing from the same roof.

Makes note and passes on to US Immigration.

I agree (for once!) with c@t, so could you tell US Immigration about me too! I've certainly no wish to live there, and hopefully I'll never need to visit either!

Wonder what they're going to do about Letterman!!

Letterman and the rest of the Late Show team are having a week off this week, so CBS are showing a week
of re-runs. If the power cut had affected a recording of the Late Show at the Ed Sullivan Theater, assuming
the Theater doesn't have a backup generator, CBS would go to the archive, and stick a recent re-run on.

AFAIK, NBC's Late Night with Conan O' Brien, also taped in NYC, would have a similar procedure.

Power very slowly returning to New York how are the other places have they got any of their power back yet.

does anyone know when the itv news channel stopped broadcasting and showed recorded events.

They showed NBC News until 2am, then a live update with Lloyd Bracey before going with the recorded News at Ten at 2.05am

Fox was just down (during an advert break I assume) with a test card bars and tone and "THE SWITCH" across the middle.

Hmm...seems to be playing US Fox trails/adverts.

Fox Magazine is on with someone called Simon Cowell...

Yeah - saw that. They fell over quite badly there ... Although it looked more a feed problem to me, rather than the studio losing power.

Well they're back but putting the terrorism spin on things even after everyone else believes it was a thunderstorm. Love the Fox News website headline - "Blame Canada".

Maybe Canada is part of the 'axis of evil'

Is Jean Chrétien any relation to Osama Bin Laden

Does George Bush know where Canada Land is?

Tell me Fox News aren't using an old photo on their website? Is that not the Twin Towers there?
