The BBC NYC servers are still up

Ah right, well WBR will have gone ahead as usual then.

World lost the feed to New York at about 9.25 when the offices lost power. The whole programme as anchored by Manisa in London

What about ABC World News Tonight (based in New York) with Peter Jennings on News 24 tonight, I presume that's a no-go as a result?

All the main TV stations seem to have back-up generators.

And they work too! Laughing

I see News 24 are streaming online again for this.

Nice to see John back on the phone from New York, having live pictures with the Live dog and a recorded interview is a bit confusing.

Looks like the USA will be dark before all the power is restored. Scary thought. Imagine London with no power Shocked

Nice to see John back on the phone from New York, either he and Peter are keeping to a tight script or N24 are re-running the earlier interview but have packaged it up as 'Live' Razz

Peter explained it was a rerun of the earlier interview, but the pictures were live

John Terrett was saying to Mishal on World that even if the power is back by tomorrow, then there will still be chaos, as trains aren't in the correct places ready for the morning rush hour, etc.

The problem to the power plant itself will most probably take a long time to fix. An overloaded transformer? the power probably will be off for many hours to come, if it goes dark then we may see looting!. With flights backlogged and cars abondoned on freeway's - its The Day New York Stopped.

The only problem I can identify with News 24's coverage is that they have just focused on New York. They could have taken a feed from the situation in Toronto for instance.

BBC World are also focusing on New York. I'm not absolutely sure, but I would imagine this is the case because they have John Terrett at the scene, and they haven't managed to get crews to other cities if they don't have bureaux there. John Terrett is now saying that the power should be back within 90 minutes.
