Looks bad ... although not down to terrorism, says US govt ...

This all just looks too coincidental to me!!!

Fox says it's an economy thing! Bizarre!

Just switched on Sky News after their 'Whoosh' desktop alert thingy nearly gave me another heart attack. Laughing

So has everybody got to walk home tonight?

When did the power failure begin?

Looks like no WBR tonight then, did it happen after Business Today or before?

Looks to me like one station in NYC went down, and it's toppled the whole north east grid! Amazing!

BBC World are just talking on the telephone to John Terrett in New York - it happened at 1615 local time - about 2115 for us. Therefore it would have happened just before WBR. I missed it, so don't know whether John was able to make it, or whether it was just Manisha. Look out for Business Today at 2230 on News 24 if you want to find out.

They've just said that it may have been caused by an overload at a power station in New York state.
