I have to agree, the last lot never told you, "you're watching Ch4" In the world of branding is no good having something visually impressive if you can't convey your channel to the viewer.

Agreed.
Funny, if the previous set of idents had been skipped and we'd gone straight to these, I'm certain everybody would have been complaining.
Sorry, but I don't see how.. I mean, there would have been complaints, but certainly less than when they presented the previous set
These idents have personality and scream "you're watching Channel 4", something the previous set didn't
I don't like them as much as the previous set. There's no real mystery or intrigue to them, which both that set and the one before did.
Agreed.

One of them front is shot in New Brighton, I like them much better then the last lot and as someone said, I nod to 1982!
Great idents. I have to admit I never really took to the previous set. The Football one was filmed in Liverpool, not too far from where I used to live as a student in the late 90s.

Definitely visually impressive, heck, I even liked the concepts of some of them, but lacking in the personality field

The 4Score rendition is going to grate - even within a 45s ident it is too repetitive.

I would say they should add more to this set for it to not go stale. This is the same for any new ident set that comes out to this day. Even if it doesn't tell you 4 immediately, the 4Score tune should.

Mysteriously dull after the first month. However, everyone will get sick of the fourscore theme arrangement. I told them to mix it up a bit and have various versions of fourscore.

Based on the last set I'd be surprised if there were additions, though this set is probably easier to add too.

More of Channel 4's personality came out in the last set than these ones IMO. They were head turning, ominous, somewhat edgy. The witch doctor bird dance thing, as head scratching as it was, couldn't placed on any other channel. They highlighted the "something different" that Channel 4 prides itself on.
