Wow 10 years since the 25th Anniversary. That is scary.

As good as they are.... nothing can yet touch the original Channel 4 idents. Black background, the logo comes together, 4 beats and announcer speaks and done.
Simple and effective.

Tokyo is probably the greatest single ident ever made

Until oneness came along! Very Happy

Has the DOG vanished?

Probably someone forgot to schedule it during this programme part or it's removed to not clash with SUTC graphics?

Surely they would've designed the SU2C graphics around the DOG? They don't look like they'd obstruct it.

According to Gary Terezza the announcers had a formula for when they would say the word "four" in the 2004 - 2015 era

They seem to be sticking to a similar formula in the new idents by getting it all in before the big shouty fourscore comes in

Well seeing there's no DOG during Gogglebox, I'm guessing I was right on the latter.

About that, since when did the "Four" change to "Channel 4" in the announcements?

They might well have bought him out or done some sort of deal for it. It's different to the original idents though as now it's just the notes in a different arrangement, not his original composition

I presumed the reason the soundtrack changed on the original idents in 1992 was to avoid paying any more royalties? The second jingle just didn’t sound as right.

I'm pretty disappointed that the original idents didn't go anywhere and it was just those four idents, nothing new was ever added or changed. "It is a story that we shall build on" was just a load of bollocks then?

No point building on a story that didn't work and most people hated.

I'm no musicologist but I'm not sure I can agree with you there. It's this part of the full Fourscore

It's much more the original composition than just the same four notes, the chord progression and tempo are the same. Very different from the situation where Radio 2 kept the same sonic logo when they changed jingle package and had to pay the previous supplier to keep using it.

Didn’t work only because they refused to continue it beyond four meagre idents

And “most people” is subjective
