No clock ident at 7pm...

To be honest, they were more of a Creative p*ssing contest to win Channel 4's rebrand pitch.
I'm pretty disappointed that the original idents didn't go anywhere and it was just those four idents, nothing new was ever added or changed. "It is a story that we shall build on" was just a load of bollocks then?

Is that why its all gone back in house?

So you're saying Channel 4 wanted more but the people who made them didn't want to?

I could potentially warm to these adverts, however botched and cumbersome this 'giant man' made out of the blocks looks.
The music is grating. The same melody is repeated again and again with the same guitar and then the weird foghorn rendition. There's nothing wrong with the classic melody, albeit repetitive, but mix it up a bit by using different versions or instruments for each ident.
As it stands, these idents are going to get very tired and old very quickly.

I don’t understand people’s reservations about the music. I just love the whole thing. I laughed out loud at the 4 hoofing the football through the window.

Cliffside edit seen in the Survey has just been used on the Channel.
I have a feeling they'll edit the 4 idents to death as there are only 4 and they are quite long timewise

What I'm saying is, there was a lot more pressure to be 'different' due to the 'scary' brief that was given to them. Hence the broken up logo and avant-garde arthouse type idents.

I know the backstory behind them. I was just wondering why more weren't made to continue the story, since Channel 4 chose them.

The problem with these type of idents is that they are expensive to make. There's a budget and that's the biggest reason why there's only 4. 4 high quality ones may I say.

I might be wrong, but is this the first time Fourscore's been back on the idents since 1992?
