Potential new Channel 4 idents launched

Anyone who is a member of Core 4 may have just got an e-mail from them asking to take part in a survey on some potential new Channel 4 idents. All of them feature a giant human shaped figure made up of silver/glass coloured Channel 4 blocks.

Ident 1 - The 'block man' runs alongside paralympians in wheelchairs in a street race
Ident 2 - Lots of kids playing on the streets with some kids sitting on the shoulders of the block man joining in the games
Ident 3 - The 'block man' walks to the top of a hill and screams, rocking the village and its inhabitants below, some loving and some hating what is happening
Ident 4 - People sit on the top of block man as it travels through the ocean, eventually rising out of the water and walking on land

All in all, I'd have to say they do look very strange, but they are very "Channel 4" in style and content. But, like the current idents, if these are used on screen, I imagine they will be very divisive.

Wow! I've done the survey. Indeed, divisive but it's much more fun and charming and it's more obvious in aiming towards viewers, in the name of diversity and family viewing.

Interesting. Were you just given concept drawings or were these the actual finished idents? Sound more interesting than what they've currently got.

I received the same email and have to say I think they're really charming and sweet, very Channel 4 in concept. I was taken aback at first but there's something very warm about them.

Also of note... in the one where the metal man rises out of the sea, at the end he opens his 'mouth' and emanates the sound of the C4 jingle from their first ident back in 1982! A very nice touch.

Edit: actually thinking about it, the music to *all* the idents contains those classic notes. Nice to have it back as a sonic logo.

These were full, finished videos so I imagine these are ready to go to air if they decide to use them.

As much as I like how Fourscore is being used, personally I think they're a little too softly softly. Also can't help but compare them to the current E4 idents and I don't know if that's good or bad.

I'm gonna spoil my comments but I said, I wonder if the E4 robot could crash into the "block man"

When they suppose to launch on the channel ?

I like them; good evolution of the branding introduced with the thinner logo - and branding which people will probably like more than the odd idents they've been using.

All I think it needs is soundtracks; the "Nu Fourscore" sounds to me like a bit of a placeholder in all the idents that aren't "Field/Hill".

I made sure I said the music seems a bit repetitive appearing on all idents so let's hope so.
