Protocol has been set in place for Her Majesty's death by various news outlets, but has anything been planned for the day when the Duke of Edinburgh dies?

I don't think they would know the day ahead of time, that'd be some precise planning on the Duke's part

My heart skipped a beat when I saw the thread title
When broadcasters like the BBC and Sky do rehearsals for a royal death they are practicing for one of the category 1 royals, so that's: Madge, Phil, Charlie and Wills

When it does happen - the schedules for the main BBC channels (ONE, TWO, FOUR) will be supplanted for breaking news as a result. Normal programming will have been suspended by then. Junctions will come back to normal over the next few days, but comedy won't be shown.
It'll be a entirely big eye-opener for ITV, Channel 4 and Channel 5 this time, especially with the likes of their offshoot channels.
From a presentation point of view, the BBC downplayed the importance of Category 1 deaths after 9/11, hence removing the need for a generic ident unifying the channels for the news. Is it still the plan to do this as a result?
Aren't the royals categorised in a way of significance which dictates the level of coverage the broadcaster's give to such an event and the period of mourning and the protocol involved. I'm sure the Queen Mother used to be quite significant but was then reallocated shortly before she died.
So I imagine broadcaster's would rehearse for the different categories, obviously with the Queen getting the most significant coverage.
Why is it a possibility? The only immortal creation on this planet is a species of jellyfish that lives in the Mediterranean Sea. Which His Highness doesn't and isn't.
But anyway it's fairly well known most if not all of the media in this country and much of the foreign media have packages, features and what not pretty much ready to go for all senior members of the Royal Family and many other prominent figures such as leading politicians for example.
If you're expecting a "<somebody> has died, we'll have all the details in our bulletin at six. Now here's Judge Rinder" type announcement, I think you might be disappointed.
