Do they actually have the TOTP studio set anymore? I'd be surprised if they did.

I think bits of the set are still used for Later with Jools. I could be wrong though.

I think the 2006 show used the usual set but the 2007 show didn't look much like the original show at all - the graphics were all completely different to the style the show used at the end of the run, and the theme didn't play in the background while the presenters were talking which made it all seem a bit flat. To be expected I suppose if you get a different team making it every year...

That'd be interesting, though I can easily see it being killed by them with a Grease is The Word-like theme. Funny how Cowell talks as if he's a controller of the network, though it's nice to see he has some sense by not leaving it "in the dustbin".

What is the actual possibility of the BBC selling it to ITV? They could just easily say no couldnt they?

I always enjoyed Top Of The Pops but i was hard juggling to watch against Corrie. If Simon doesnt get it, why not bring CDUK to prime time?

It's the Top of the Pops brand, that will pull in the viewers.

The BBC still have the TOTP brand though with TOTP2.

And when exactly does he think ITV would broadcast it, and why on earth does he think people would watch it on ITV when they didn't on the BBC?

That would explain why it was cancelled due to low ratings...

A chat show branded "Top of the Pops' will perform much better then one labeled 'CDUK", I reckon.

Did CD:UK ever move to Five, or did they ditch it before they even started airing it?

A new format? Renewed interest?

CD:UK never made it to five, such a shame really, I know that CD:UK's brand will never be like Top Of The Pops, but at the end of the day, it was a brand that had grown and was a chart programme. I do think that ITV should bring back CD:UK, or blaze should again try and take it somewhere else, thought I do think that they should try it with ITV2, there's no programme to follow on from on Saturday mornings anymore.

As for Top Of The Pops, it would be interesting to see ITV take it, but as others have said the BBC need to keep the brand because of the TOTP2 programmes, because surely they would have to change their name if the Top of The Pops brand went to ITV, wouldn't they?

I do agree with Simon Cowell that it has been a great year for music, but after last years Top of The Pops hash up, I'm glad that they chose not to in a way.

Can I ask how many people liked Top of The Pops after the Andi Peter's rebrand? I was all in favour of it myself, it gave the programme a fresher edge, the music was a nice change, the set was spectacular, I still think that the set designers played around with the set plan like lego, overall I prefered it as it was live, and they changed the show.
Even though I will always hate the band, the Blazin' Squad performance at TVC was set up very well indeed.

There was always something about Top of The Pops that meant that the weekend was either here, or nearly here (obviously when it went out on Thursdays).

Didn't production company Blaze go bust - thats why the show never made it onto Five, so there is no chance of CD:UK coming back on ITV1, ITV2 or Five.
