Shame they couldn't tempt Janice Long back, but I suppose she needs her rest after a week of presenting 4 R2 nighttime shows & 1 BBC WM Saturday show.
(Mind you I'm not sure though, but I think she might be off around that time. I'm sure WM's Mollie Green said she was covering Janice's Saturday show around that time!)
I for one would love to see Janice appear on the last edition of TOTP, also David Jensen and Mark Goodier - a shame two of my personal favourite presenters, John Peel and Tommy Vance, cannot take part in the last TOTP as I'm certain if they were still alive, there's a strong possibility both would have agreed to it.
I wouldn't even mind seeing some of the Year Zero presenters, Anthea Turner, or even Tim Kash taking part in the last TOTP to remind us all that TOTP had its dodgy moments...

Maybe even Steve Wright-- he used to present TOTP for a while? He occasionally does TOTP2 specials. Maybe even Noely might an appearance
Unsurprisingly Sunday 30th July will be "TOTP Night".

Pan's People: Digging the Dancing Queens
For anyone growing up in the 1970s, the dance troupe Pan's People were an essential element of the weekly TV fix. Their natural habitat was the Top of the Pops studio, where each week they would offer their individualistic interpretation of a contemporary hit record. This documentary takes an affectionate look back at the heyday of Pan's People and finds out what went on behind the sequins, satin, and smiles.
I am sure that I read somewhere that Janice Long would be there...
Anyway, I'll be able to report back what happens, as I am very lucky to have been invited along to the actual recording of this final edition which airs on 30th July.
The pre-record takes place at TVC this coming Wednesday night, so should be very interesting - I really am pleased that I am going to be there for the very final show - makes my final tally for shows attended to 44!!!!!!!!
Yes mate - will report back how it goes - probably be able to do this Thursday morning.....and yes, I do feel quite lucky to get the tickets actually - something of a landmark really I guess, so go to the last ever edition.
I've just sat down and realised that this time next week, a symbol of British television, and a show that I have watched for all of my life, will no longer be here. I can't quite get my head around it.
Funny enough, it was only after watching Sunday's show and its finale with the ticker tape falling that made me realise that after week, Top of the Pops will be no more.
The fact that TOTP2 will be making a comeback is barely any consolation - surely the common sense solution is to find a direct replacement for TOTP, if such a thing is possible.
