Isn't that what happened to 'Doctor Who' before it was suspended. It was put on against Corrie, on B.B.C.2.?
Surely they could make a 'T.o.t.P.' channel, and enhance the brand. Satuerdasy evenings sounds gr8 time for it.
What about two episodes on two consecutive days. They show last week's ep' on the day before they show the next episode (on B.B.C.3.', or my proposed 'totp' channel?
it seems like very defeatist last few years of 'totp' to me.

Dr Who was never moved to BBC2 for its first runs.
The final 3 series were on BBC1 on Friday's at 735pm (straight after Wogan)

"It would be nice if there was a TOTP night on either BBC 2 or BBC 4, but I guess it would be a repeat of various docs already shown like 'The Story Of Top Of The Pops',, 'Digging The Dancing Queens', The Smashie & Nicey 30 years special, which was repeated a few years later, as it did have different style astons & slightly different clips, Britney Spears being included in the later repeat for example."
They could possibly repeat I Love TOTP as shown in December 2001, with the Jimmy Savile links on a mock-up of the "cascade" set with neon TOTP logo
"What I wouldn't mind being shown as regards archive editions, subject to clearences, the 10 year special(a brief colour clip of Saville was used recently on the axed news report of him standing in front of the 64 logo, the 20 year special(which featured the famous Rick Parfitt falling over the drum kit performance!), the 25 year special, & the end of the 80's special!"
I'm sure if UK Gold was the channel they were 10 years ago, they would give a weekend over to TOTP. Instead, they are hyping up Prison Break, which only finished on five a few weeks ago. What gives?
"(Do any of them involve Noel Edmonds & Mike Smith as they were the main stumbling blocks?)"
No. The 10 year special featured only Jimmy Savile, the 20 year special was Peel and Jensen (with Alan Freeman involved in a wonderful exchange with Peel during one of the links), and Noel and Smithy were not featuredin the 25th anniversary programme.
"What I'd suspect we'd get would be Wrighty & 'a very special edition of TOTP 2, celabrating 42 years of the world's greatest music show' & showing the same old bloody clips we know & love!"
The Mavericks "Dance The Night Away", followed by Rod Stewart doing "Maggie May", followed by Kool and the Gang's "Ooh La La La (Let's Go Dancing)" from the Late Late Breakfast Show... NO!!!

I know, that 20 year special's great innit!
Peelie - Here's a guy who was in at the beginning, Alan Fluff Freeman. Fluff, would you like to introduce the next item?
Fluff - No not really.
Peelie - A cup of tea, biscuit maybe?
Fluff - No Not really.
Peelie - Never mind, here's a look back at TOTP in the 60's. A few sequences in black & white. (which at least 4 were from the 70's!(Sweet, Edison Lighthouse,Thin Lizzy & Jethro Tull) )
(As far as I remember, but I do have 90% of the show archived on DVD somewhere!)
Is the 1967 Boxing Day edition the only one in the existing archive that's fully edited for transmission, links & all?
I got the impression the other supposed complete 60's shows are missing DJ audio links, according to 'Missing Episodes' !
The only two episode from the 1960s which survive in full with links intact are 26/12/1967 and 15/2/1968.
The episodes from 6/6/1968, 1/7/1971 and 30/12/1971, and most of the 27/2/1969 episode have no sound on the links, the latter also has some of the performances without sound, but some do (like Val Doonican's Morning" and Neil Reid's "Mother of Mine"...)
I think it's sad that because of archival policies of the past that many performances by all time greats have been lost forever, whereas the likes of Busted & McFly will be there for future generations to see........
I can not believe it - an end of an era. Do you reckon Sir Jimmy Saville will present the last show??? Answers on a postcard to.... !!!!
Well on Breakfast he said they couldn't afford him but you never know.
Unfortunately (certainly in my mind), it appears that they can. Savile is being wheeled out for the final show, along with some other past presenters including Mike Read, Tony Blackburn and Pat Sharp (who I don't recall ever presenting it, though I may be wrong).
Full story on the BBC website. Apparently, details and format of the final show are yet to be finalised.
Chuck in Bates and Mike Smith and its the Top Of The Pops Christmas party again.....
ok maybe not.
But its great that they are reuniting old presenters for the final show. Yes, ok. the show will probably die on its arse but whats new? Tony Blackburn doesn't read an autocue very well and Savile...well he probably won't even know which camera he's on half the time. I'm sure they'll be accompanied by the likes of Houndog and....I don't know... Lauren Laverne.
Skytower:
"Cheers Col. A little too young to remember back then!
I was only a baby at the time myself...
My parents taped Roman oalliday's "Don't Try To Stop It" from TOTP on 14/7/1983, and after the song intro, the camera fades to Sir Jim and Pat do their link into the performance. I remember looking back at it around 10 years ago and realising that the other guy along with Jimmy Saville was indeed the presenter from Fun House before he grew his mullet...
That episode, along with two others Pat presented (30/12/1982 - the first episode also co-hosted by Gary Davies and Janice Long and 10/2/1983 with Janice) were also shown on UK Gold.
