Janice Long is my second favourite TOTP presenter (behind John Peel), always was herself on the show, always looked like she was enjoying herself (which to the best of my knowledge, she always did) and whoever she co-hosted with in her time she always got on well with, even if their musical tastes or personas were different, she could get on as well with Simon Bates as she did on screen with Peel, and you can't get two opposites than Bates and Peel... Sad to see it go. It was truely a national institution. With (another) major revamp it could have continued.

It was a shame the last ever number one on TOTP was 'Hips Don't Lie'. Awful.

It shoud of been launched as TOTP on BBC 3's downtime and TOTP 2 on BBC 4's downtime, it would've survived

Could have been McFly or Simon L's favourite Christina Aguilera I suppose...

Watching the final TOTP really should have been something you'd remember for years to come - I doubt I'll even remember it tomorrow morning!. Rolling Eyes Making the finale a glorified TOTP2 was no way to send off a national institution. Shame on you BBC. The banter between the (poor selection of) presenters was cringeworthy to the extreme as well.

Until "The best of 2006" TOTP special at "the end of the year" - did they mention this on broadcast tonight? I can't remember?? It was definately recorded in the final link in studio on Weds night......

They didn't mention it, no. They didn't even do the whole audience time lapse thing you were talking about. It was just Sir Jimmy hiding behind a curtain and 'turning the lights off'. I was expecting more for that bit.

Then again, so is most of the stuff that's been in the charts over the past few years. Or maybe I'm just becoming an old fogey.

should have

I want to find out who began this assault on the English language and give him a damn good beating. Why people don't say "should have" is beyond me. "should have" should be thrown in the bin along with txt spk and all these other stupid spelling and grammatical things that are becoming more common.

Talking of the English language, tonight's TOTP proves that nobody proof reads things anymore... there were at least two spelling mistakes I noticed in the captions..

I see Fearne made a brief intro at the beginning. I'm surprised the BBC let her do that considering she's with that trash on ITV. Rolling Eyes

Well it was the TOTP team who are losing their jobs who let her do it, so I doubt they're going to be too fussed about what the BBC hierarchy think.

And I was hoping the last show wouldn't have featured the little minx...
