Has anyone else noticed that ITN newscasters are not wearing poppies.Why is this . surely it can't be the fact that all ITN News readers are so insensitive. Come on ITN why. Surely poppies are to be worn from the launch of the poppy appeal and that was last week. I hear stories that Central news are also the same. WHY?????

I noticed that but ALL BBC newsreaders/presenters and guests if you look are wearing them!
Not on BBC World you won't. I've just read an article on Media Guardian where an Evening Standard reporter was told to remove his poppy before going on air.
Earlier today, the BBC claimed it had asked presenters and journalists not to wear poppies because BBC World does not have a UK audience.
Media Guardian do seem to be laying into the BBC on this a bit...
There was a report in the Media Monkey column on Tuesday I think complaining about Emily Mathias (spelling? the one who presents BCC London News) saying that she was wearing her poppy at 6.30pm and 10.30pm but not during the headlines at 10 o'clock and that she was only wearing it for effect...
All BBC presenters wear poppies for two weeks before Remembrance Sunday ... all the guests are offered a poppy to wear (sometimes it looks a little silly like on Liquid News where pop stars suddenly have a poppy) but they are not forced to wear one. And yes BBC World have always had a 'no poppy' rule - hence why on the overnight BBC1 service you don't see one because it goes out on World.
It's the same with things like Christmas trees and decorations -they don't appear on World as some people don't celebrate Christmas.
