BUT could the bbc get away with it?
If it was for Children in Need or Comic Relief, they can get away with anything
Not quite. Anyway I don't think the BBC would actually be interested in the show. It would have to be a toss-up between five and Sky1.
If anything it could be good for five as they could expand their programme onto their five-life channel, just as ITV does with the Xtra Factor.
I think both Pop Idol and X-Factor can easily co-exist. It happens in quite a few other countries where the two shows are on different networks.

I don't see the point of bringing back Pop Idol here when we already have the X Factor. I don't even see the point of the X Factor being around when Pop Idol was on. Those two programs are just the same only with different colours.
Come to think of it why was there a Pop Idol at all when there was Popstars?

According to the 'Sun' ITV are keen to hold on to he show and want to revive it during the summer in place of 'Love Island'.
The director of entertainment Paul Jackson has said: “We have made it clear that we want to be included in the pitch round for Idol and we have been told we will be.”
A decision is due at the end of November.
