Why would anyone want to watch Pop Idol??? It's not as though the people on it are ever any good and the bands always end up splitting anyway!

You are mistaken, Popstars creates the bands, Pop Idol (of which there has only been one series) looks for exactly that, a Pop Idol, in other words a solo artist, ie. Will Young, Gareth Gates, Darius from the last series.

I much prefer Popstars the Rivals to Pop Idol - but they are both good.

Does anyone know when Pop Idol will begin? Im sure I read on teletext it is next Saturday but it isnt in the tv guide - if they are running promotions already it must be soon

2 weeks time apparently.

Well for those who watched tonight's Sketch Show, there was an ad for Pop Idol 2 with Simon Cowell in between. Wasn't intresting it was promoting silence, but the camera zooms into him and a caption appears which said 'Opening Soon', I wonder if they have made 3 other one's, as that's the first time I've seen that one.

8 days later

So...Does anyone know if Pete Waterman is returning or not??? Surely there must be SOMEONE out there who has been to the auditions and seen the guy!!!! Come on...put us out of our misery!

ITV have moved Pop Idol to commence in two weeks time.

The only trouble is that Fame Academy will be completing the lineup for the contestants this week, so by 'saving their asses' by hastily rescheduling, ITV have done nothing but kicked themselves in the balls instead.

If they had left it alone, we would have seen both series coming into their main action at the same point - i.e. the live heats on ITV, the Saturday night singing competition on BBC. It would have been a real game of TV-exec chicken. I fear that ITV have once again shot themselves in the feet with this one.

How about another option on the vote - "I will watch prog A and tape prog B?)

For the people who want to watch BOTH - of which some people will want to - which isnt represented in the vote at all

I dont think many people will watch both as they are simular progs and I doubt people will go out of their way to record one of them if they are show at the same time

I will watch Pop Idol on ITV1

I'll be watching Pop Idol to see my mate's audition but then I'll be off to Fame Academy, it's just better-produced I think.

There's a new promo. One of those plastic singing fish on a wall in a chip shop and it sings a while... then a demolition ball comes through the wall with Simon Cowell driving it and the voiceover says something like "ooh... don't be too harsh!"

There is one with a tortoise singing Cry Me a River as well.

I imagine ITV wil schedule Pop Idol for around 7.30pm to go head to head with the BBC Lottery Show, and also stop viewers going back for the 8.15pm Fame Academy update.

YOU SHOULD NEVER, EVER, EVER, EVER EVEN THINK ABOUT VOTING FOR ANYBODY ON ANY OF THESE SHOWS - EVER!!!!

Why do we have to suffer this again and again?

All they do is put a bunch of muppets in our faces and tell us to pay for the privellage of having one of them taken off our screens. I don't like, and I shall not watch.

Give us some real entertainment. Nobody with a brain cares about this muck.

Why is it necessary to point these obvious facts out to the masses that (somehow) get swept up in it?

I'm sick of crap TV. I saw a programme recently that said the Americans love our trashy programmes. If that is the case, then they can have them, but we don't bloody want them!

It appears as though all the same 4 judges are returning for the NEW series, which is great news. I've read this on Teletext on ITV1 and also on DigitalSpy:-

"Radio DJ Fox, who forms part of the judging panel alongside Nicki Chapman, Pete Waterman and Simon Cowell"

Very Happy

So there we go....lots of waiting to hear this news but what good news it is!!!! I can hardly wait for next weekend's action, with the Pop Idol One Year On, Pop Idol and Being Simon Cowell all thrown in in the same night!!!

Wicked Stuff!

Bye Bye Lame Academy!!! The Poll can't be wrong above!!!
