Once in the very late 1990s (or possibly even early 2000s), the telly in one of the Coronation Street living rooms could be heard blasting out the classic "ITV Schools" (on Channel 4) music!

Obviously meant to help imply late morning for plot reasons, but in the real world the tune had been dropped a fair few years earlier.

I remember once on Corrie Bet Lynch was watching UTV... or at the very least an episode of some old Jenny Bristow cookery programme made by UTV.

somebody mentioned a whilst back about the rovers set in corry possibly being based on the original and bigger pub on archie street which coronation street was modelled off

the queen vic also has an implausable amount of space between the door on albert square and the end of the building, which on the outside set is about a foot from the side wall

just noticed in eastenders that all the upstairs windows face bridge street, grant looked out of the kitchen window and lounge window in tonight's episode and we saw bridge street both times

judging by the layout the kitchen should face albert square

The set for the Rovers Return in Corrie is another example.

If you draw out the floor plan you realise that the living room (never mind the kitchen) should be in the middle of Rosamund Street!

Yes and before the fire didn't they have the Select Bar which was in effect a large function room. What happened to all of that space? Did it just disappear?

yes, the set designers wanted the bar to look like the outdoor set, pity they forgot to fit the lounge in, quite why they couldn't have all the accommodation upstairs like the vic in eastenders is beyond me. the size of the exterior set would only allow for a small room behind the bar anyway

The outdoor set also doesn't match up with itself. The long exterior wall of the Rovers on Rosamund Street has nothing behind it, and the other side of the wall is the one which backs onto the yard at the rear.

A few years back everyone on EastEnders seemed to be forever watching the Weakest Link. And before that you often heard the Newsroom South East BBC News-style theme, even after BBC London had launched and UK Today been dropped!

I thought that when the new Corrie set was built in 1982 they decided to make it full-size, unlike the previous version which was about two-thirds the width because of space restrictions on the lot.

However, when looking at the current set the older houses appear implausably narrow for terraced houses, and the interior sets implausably large.

the long side wall of the rovers has a double sided first floor window in it to give the illusion, from either side, that the building is bigger, there are also fake windows on the yard side to again give the illusion of a much larger building. (I was very nosey when I went on the studio tours)

the daftest thing is that viaduct, it dosen't even go anywhere, it's at the end of rosamund street yet behind the terrace is a (fake) row of houses which have only recently replaced strategically hung washing (to hide the studio buildings)

they even show this in the opening titles
http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/pictures/galleries/newsid_1723000/1723311.stm

as for the depth of the houses they are only half the width of a normal terrace, when it was built in 1982 they only filmed on the actual street, not the surrounding ones so it was of little consequence that the sides of the pub and shop were out of scale to the front

if you see the set you realise how tiny it is, particularly the new houses

there's some recent views of the street set showing the fake viaduct and equally fake row behind the terrace on the webaviation site
(there a big notice on it saying don't hotlink the pictures so i didn't)

coronation street had a big cock up in tonights episodes where in two scenes they showed the dead end of viaduct street and the fact the viaduct would really go through the brewery building

now that is what i call bad continuity, filming the end of your film set (twice)

unless they were going to put some GCI image in and forgot

another cock-up was Danny Baldwin's car. He left the facory, had a quick chat with Sean on the steps (and his car was in the scene).... Next scene, Danny is in the pub telling Violet about Sean, then she tells Danny's son/her boyfriend (can't remember his name)....next scene he goes to talk to sean and Danny's car has disappeared - would Danny actually drive his car just around the corner??????????????? I think not - its more of a continuity miss-hap

It you are referring to Dev's Fathers Day card, the second episode was set in the future, on Monday. It was referred to the fact that it was late and the day after Fathers Day.

With the World Cup, Corrie seems to have got out of synch again.
