Tonight in Emmerdale Steph was sat in the hospital TV lounge and she was flicking through the channels. The camera was on the TV as she did this and on one of the channels was Calendar , which is the local news programme in on ITV Yorkshire.

What's wrong with this you might ask. Well, the clip from Calendar that was shown must have been from around 2003. I know this because that was the last time the programme got a new look before news programmes were given a corporate look in 2004.

It was older than that, you are forgetting the red/blue fade look

That TV Steph was watching was interesting, on one channel was the ancient edition of Calendar, the next one was Ian Clayton and then the third was some programme with Gaynor Barnes. It must have been YTV Digital!

Well, I know Coronation Street still drag out some old CITV footage from 1998, complete with old DOG on screen. Maybe they should do what Brookside did, with that show with stupid music & rabbits hopping around that appeared periodically.

That everybody whatever age seemed to watch!

Coronation Street seem to use the audio of Lucy Meacock regularly if someone is watching TV off camera. Jon Mitchell can be heard quite often on Emmerdale as well.

Granada Tonight (the couch era) is often shown, along with Children's Ward, Allsorts, and quite a few other regional classic and more recent regional programmes. Possibly a successor to GSkyB!!!!! Laughing Laughing Laughing

Granada Weather has also appeared in Coronation Street the odd time or two as well, plus I remember hearing the old News At Ten theme in an episode from the 1980's (that was shown on Plus sometime back). There was an episode of CS that deliberately had Granada Tonight in the storyline as Alf Roberts was in the News, and AIUI Bob Greaves was the presenter.

Also remember hearing the 1992-93 theme of Granada Tonight in an episode on Plus once, when Carmel the Evill nanny was on the loose. Laughing

I could go on all night

I know, I never got that. Why would a tough guy like Tinhead be watching a kiddie show with fluffy bunnies?

I also noticed that one of the episodes of Corrie on the 1980s dvd's (1981 I think) had Gail watching tv and a programme menu came up saying "tommorow night on Granada at 7pm we pay a visit to Emmerdale Farm "

EastEnders is pretty poor at continuity, especially on a change of script writer.

I hate to think what next week's episodes will be like, with the original Monday and Tuesday ones being nailed together for an hour on Thursday; then the Thursday and Friday ones for an hour on Friday.

I'll take a pound to a pinch of doggy-doo that the original four episodes had different writers, so we'll see a total change of attitude from Pauline half way through each of the composites.

Yeah, I think the look that was shown on Emmerdale was on our screens from 2000-2003. The red/blue fade look was brought in on Tuesday, 27 May 2003, to coincide with Duncan Wood joining the team. For the first programme - Christine Talbot was in the studio in Leeds and Duncan was in Sheffield for the Blades parade after their defeat to Wolves in the play-off final.
