As much as I like Police Camera Action, I hardly think Alastair Stewart is suitable for presenting about road dangers when he himself has been guilty for drink driving twice. However, I suppose he did grovel in an episode from 1997 where he admitted to his own faults.
Well that's another TV show that's been well and truly ruined thanks to a revival. This episode was complete tedium to watch. Why couldn't they get Lee Boardman to voice instead?
All clips badly zoomed and cropped, all clips pontificated over in the most patronising manner possible. Some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to add incidental music to every clip. Please don't do that ever again.
Adrian Simpson killed the show instantly as soon as he appeared, I'm sorry to say, and Alistair's role reduced to the top of the show and the bottom of the show. Who came up with the cheesy sign-off phrase "Let's be careful out there"? This is Googleable to a 1980s American TV series as it happens.
They might as well have just gone back through the PCA archive, replaced all the voiceovers, shot new links, updated all the stats, maybe drop new video clips in, and package it up as a new series.
Where has Alastair Stewart gone??? Oh yeah - 1 minute at the beginning at 1 minute at the end.
They should rename the show:-
"Police Camera Action - with 5% Alastair Stewart and 95% Adrian Simpson".
It was good to see it back, but it didn't feel right without Alastair Stewart doing all the voiceovers as before and less of the "interviews" in between clips! Don't mind the music during the clips though.
Alastair Stewart hosted the special last week all on his own - so why has he just been sidelined to the front and end of the show???

I expect it's a combination of, his own drink driving making some links difficult, his increased ITV News committments and the fact he's a bit older thesedays

Fair enough - but he doesn't do THAT much on ITV News and the fact that he is older doesn't really come into it really. I mean, to do a few voiceovers for a 22 minute type show and film a few segments can't take that long to do, surely?

Come on Alastair, put a bit more effort in man!
He does two programmes a day most days (ITV News and London Tonight) which is quite a bit of work and also means he is busy during most of the day.
It was alright, but it's not the Police, Camera, Action! that I remember, fair enough in comparison to other Police car chase programmes, PCA has always had an Educational feel to it, hence why it's on ITV rather than a Satellite channel. Tonight's episode was more like Tonight with Trevor McDonald.
