Please tell me this isn't being deleted. Why is this on at the same time?

Because we live in an era where +1 channels, the Iplayer, ITV Player, PVRs, DVD Recorders and VCRs have never existed and 2 shows you want to watch being on at the same time is immensely frustrating.

Yeah, just watch Poldark on BBC One and Victoria on ITV+1, problem solved.

I'd like to tell you that...

I know, it's almost like the BBC and ITV are having some kind of competition, or something.

Perhaps one day someone will invent a means of recording one channel while watching another. Probably a huge big cumbersome box thing that you can place under your telly.

ITV win both ways they own mammoth screen that produces both shows.

In terms of BBC 1 and ITV, 9pm is when most dramas get shown.

Neither broadcaster is going to want to compromise and show their drama at an earlier or later time, just because a rival is showing a drama at the same time.

At the end of the day, they're competing for viewers, and want to have their own programme in the best possible slot, regardless of what the competition are showing in that slot.

Both channels wanted to try and claim the former Downton Abbey slot as their own so put out strong programming

Well, ITV seem to be winning, so the BBC would be wise to put Poldark on at a different time of year next series.

They almost certainly will - it's quite rare for a BBC 9pm drama to return at the same point in the year the following year. I'd be surprised if Poldark returned before 2018.
