Moses Znaimer's CITY-TV has had video booths since the 1980s (that's more than 20 years, so you have had plenty of time to find out about them).

I liked Right to Reply when it was on. Why did that get axed anyway? It did a better job than POV although POV's message board is a gem on the web.

I like POV but wish it would be longer, and have some sort of advertising to grab peoples attention. I remember when they also talked about other channels, i liked that. It wasn't restricted.

According to this page at Andrew Wiseman's site, "Francesca O'Brien, Deputy Commissioning Editor for News & Current Affairs at C4, the department lately responsible for the [Right To Reply] programme, says that in a world with hundreds of channels, Right to Reply has become redundant."

I agree with you, I think it is much better, as most of the people did get their questions answered in person and it was up to the people to produce the reports. Andrew Wiseman is well known for being on R2R quite often. (I still have the one about ITV Rebranding in 1999 on video)

It got axed as Channel 4 rather stupidly put it on at the same time as Coronation Street on a Friday, which is pathetic.

Though I think sometime last year Roger Bolton did a one off programme which was the same format as R2R for Channel 4.

POV should be longer... I'm sure hundreds of 'views' don't get a second look by the BBC.

Perhaps they could get some one from the BEEB who knows whats what on the program, and have people phone in live... because the way it is now, they simply pick out the ones they want to answer, rather than the ones we want answering!

POV just has not been the same since the days of Robert Robinson hosting the show and making cheap jibes at those who dared criticize the BBC.

The question, "Do you think Points Of View provides an adequet platform for TV discussion in the 21st century?" only has one answer: No. Comments are made, and oftentimes dismissed out of hand.

TV Forum seems to fullfill the function posed by the question. At least we can *discuss* things here.

I do love Terry's little quips though.

It's funny you say that, because I had an idea for a replacement for POV to be called "TV Forum". It would be like Newsnight but with TV discussion (and a live phone in). R2R-style reports could be shown, and a debate held afterwards whereby callers could call and pose questions to invited guests.

*Impressed noise like Homer does*

I suggest you pop it in writing post-haste to Auntie. See, its not just Terry who calls it that.
