I too am enjoying the new Jeremy Vine era of the programme, and hope that it can start to ask more questions, instead as was said being brushed off.

I wonder why they didn't update the look of the programme to correspond with Jeremy Vine's arrival.

Especially as the current titles end with the boy touching the BBC Channel logos, all of which are the old logos, I think the only ones that are still the same are BBC Four and CBeebies (at least I think I briefly saw CBeebies in there).
Do people still like the points of view music? Didn't it originate from an April Fools joke a few years ago back when Des Lynam was hosting it (with the wonderful dog in car driving around the slide populated TV Centre, and wonderful music)?

Yes it did. Not sure if it was april fools but it was definitely "would you like the music as something daft like this?", and then when the series returned it was permanent.

The current titles are so out of date it's funny - they were introduced in 2003 and feature the original 10 O'Clock News titles (since replaced about 3 or 4 times), Fearne Cotton presenting the Saturday Show, and of course that logo burst at the end (I think they've updated the BBC One logo as you see it for longer, but the 2002-vintage CBBC blob is in there for certain).

You then ask if they listen to BBC Radio (and more people listen to BBC Radio than commercial radio) - they say they don't... You mention the stations, programmes and they realise that they do.

Someone should remind Radio 1 of this. They appear almost embarrased to recognise that they're part of the BBC, with very few on air references. Even their RDS name has no mention of the BBC.

When we hear that the demographic which values the BBC least is young adults, which also happens to be Radio 1's audience, I don't know how they've been allowed to get away with this for so long.

To me I think it's a case of everyone knowing Radio 1 is the BBC without having to keep saying BBC Radio 1.

Even through little mentions such as the website and email addresses, and the BBC trailers that air on Radio 1.
Isn't it strange how the BBC TV Channels cross promote, yet the only instances of cross promotion on the BBC Radio channels that I've heard have been for 5Live, and 5Live Sports Extra, and on Radio 1 they promote 1Xtra, but you never get Radio 1 & 2 promoting each other, even if many listeners would listen to some of both.

Though if they really did want to change it they'd just change the jingles from 'National Radio 1' to 'BBC Radio 1' (Even though it's now international, the Chris Moyles jingles are the only ones that draw to that fact).

So change is on the way, once the review has taken place.

Vine is actually rather Alan Partridge isn't he? That awful barbecue analogy was stretched so thin it nearly snapped. And try as I might, I can't forget that painfully long, excruciating cowboy routine on the local election coverage.

Laughing I'd agree with that. He's alright on Radio 2, but it's like he's trying too hard all the time-- can't quite put my finger on it.

Shame the powers that be decided that Jimmy Young was "too old" to continue doing that show.

I watched it again yesterday after not watching it for a few series due to its constant moanings and nothing being done. I must say it's a lot better. Jeremy isn't patronising, doesn't make poor jokes as links and let them trail off, and he also appears to get something done. True management did their usual speak a lot without saying anything but it still came across as much more productive.

Certainly an improvement.

Not sure I get the point they were trying to make about the weather forecast, pointing out that Paul Hudson of Look North had forecast 13degrees for Skipton but the summary slide showed 16 - given that the latter was showing general trends for the whole region rather than just one part of it.

I agree, although Terry's era had its own quirkiness about it there appears to be much more of a focus on the topics in hand with Jeremy.

It will be interesting to see when the announcement about changes to credit squeezes is made.

Anyone else irritated by those on POV this week?! Maybe it was the football hating moaners unable to cope without their regular programming for a couple of weeks or the guy "unable to get digital" supposedly. Then the kid who wants the watershed abolished.

Nice to see an apology from the rather glum media planner for the placement of the final Apprentice trail right before a repeat of the previous episode!

Anyway, final show next week when a few of the top bods will be quizzed about ECPs, background noise, camera effects and filmic. Hopefully they'll be some announcement about the ECP changes rather than a "we're still deciding".

The people moaning about soaps being "moved" due to the football really do annoy me. The schedulers go to any lengths to accommodate the soaps during these events - it's the other non-soap programmes that are dumped from the schedule.

I wouldn't hold your breath though for any answers related to anything next week - it'll be the same attitude as always - "we know you don't like it - but this is the reason we do it, so there - stuff you! ".

Who complained about the Apprentice thing? I posted seconds after it aired on Digital Spy and someone suggested I send it to POV. I never did though Laughing
