I have a feeling this was discussed recently but I can't find the thread. Apologies if so.

I was watching "Men Behaving Badly" on UK Gold at 22:20 last night, and the "F" word was bleeped out. Do UK Gold have a policy of always removing this word or would this have been done by the BBC? The episode was 9 years old and as such I don't remember what time it originally went out on BBC1. Either way I thought it was a bit lame.

Chances are only one version of the programme was re-versioned for UKTV, a pre-watershed version.

No, you've misunderstood me. If they are editing the original programme they may have created a pre-watershed version from the original in order to allow it to be scheduled in a wider range of slots.

i didnt misunderstand you, i mean i am surprised that they would bother making an edit of it to be show pre-watershed.
Seems very much like a show u would wanna watch at night

Was the line "I **** love you!"?

If it was, it was bleeped on the original BBC ONE transmission.

In the case of Men Behaving Badly I doubt it would require many edits to make it pre-watershed. This would mean it could be scheduled from (for example) 7pm instead of only from 9pm.

I think you missed the point. The *beep* is actually a joke! It didn't need to be there, but they put it in anyway.

Yes moss it was that line. Are you sure it was a joke? If so it was a very strange thing to do in a sit-com.

With a lot of episodes containing some quite crude discussions about sex I doubt it would be easy to make a version apprioriate for 7pm, regardless of language.

I'm guessing it was a joke. Otherwise why would they censor it on it's original transmission, as the show is designed for that channel and slot.

**** was still very rare at that point in a mainstream BBC ONE sitcom, I believe.
