I was channel-surfing downwards on Sky a lttle earlier when, expecting the next press of a button to take me to the start of 'A Room With A View' on More4 +1, I nearly choked on my drink when I was greeted with a rather explicit (and very loud) bondage session.

It seems Playboy have gone and launched a free-to-air "adult" channel on 287 - though presumably not quite as "adult" as what you get on the subscription-based channels.

I think this is an interesting idea - what with ever-relaxing censorship laws, adult entertainment could stand to make a fortune through mainstream advertising on free-to-air channels.

(Apologies if this is old news, but nobody seems to have mentioned it, and I would say it is quite a significant development in UK television).

I read its mostly Playboy Shop, with some adult themed entertainment in the evening.

Of course not! - but it's the idea behind the channel that is new.

We've had the likes of sleazy late-night television on Bravo and Men & Motors for years - and who can forget the ORIGINAL L!ve TV on analogue cable.
But this is a dedicated adult channel.

I was surprised a few years ago when living briefly in Germany at the number of relatively hard-core porn channels available FTA. They appear to have a very liberal attitude to censorship

Surely even if it is free, it should be in the adult section rather than amongst channels such as More4+1.

After all, the premium and free sport and movies channels are in the same sections.

You will find in most of Europe, they take a very liberal attitude to porn!
