Firstly I'm sure the "female audience" will judge people by how entertaining they are, not by their sex. Secondly as ITV are having to find new shows to bring in the "male audience" due to losing the football I'm not sure they'd want the show too skew too female.
But because it's on primetime ITV there has to be a bit of a female skew to it, you can't just appeal to an entirely male audience in that slot.
And there's no argument that they should have got in a presenter who knows more about sport because they specifically wanted to hire someone who didn't. That's the format of the show they've devised.
