Sunday night series 'Play it Again' has been pulled from the schedules due to poor ratings
The series in which celebrities learn how to play a musical instrument managed only just over 2 million viewers and combined with Castaway lead to BBC1 having it's lowest ever Sunday audience share
The slot has been filled by 'Victoria's Empire', a new series with Victoria Wood which will also be repeated just 23 hours later on Monday at 7pm
Exactly. It seems repeats on the BBC are drawing higher ratings than new programmes, a problem ITV seems to have quite a bit. (Bar
Coronation Street
of course.)
Hate to bring this up again but this is just another step closer towards TopGear moving to BBC1. If Sunday evenings haven't picked up by the next series of TG (Autumn) I think its a serious possibility.
Unfortuantely, I only saw the Aled Jones edition of Play it Again, but can say I really enjoyed it. I didn't see the others as I was busy doing other non-telly things, but I think I would have watched the others had I been able to watch TV. I think its problem was where it was placed in the schedules, and also it could have done with a bit more promotion.

there should stick it out !
Indeed, as did Minder when Thames originally showed it. It took till series 3 for Minder to gain a big audience and went on to win numerous Bafta awards & various other awards.
The problem with TV nowadays is that all that matters are two things 1) ratings (something which the BBC weren't supposed to be chasing) and 2) cost (if it's cheap we'll stick it on air)
