If it is rebranding, I wonder how they'll handle the idents? Here's a quick mock up, covering up the current logo with the mock one from page 4 of this thread.
Careful, this might get mistaken for a genuine product!
The Crowds feature will be available on Sky Sports Main Event for the majority of our scheduled games unless stated, and all free games on Sky Pick and Sky 1 will also have the Sky Sports Crowds feature available.
Guess it they can't show the football on +1 they might as well close it a few days early if it was closing anyway.
I don't think being a +1 channel is a bar to them showing a match - I'm pretty certain Sky One +1 has before, possibly even into the Saturday blackout window.
Norwich v Southampton is on Sky One+1 tomorrow night.
The real reason why the football is not on Pick+1 has nothing to do with it being a +1 and everything to do with it broadcasting the same version in the U.K. & Ireland, and Sky either can’t or won’t show the games on Pick in Ireland (they are on Sky One though).

That's a nice mock. However, the 'k' in the current wordmark is an integral part of the idents and their transitions. It's not quite so easy as just sticking on a new style unboxed Sky logo. I suspect that if they're going to rebrand properly as Sky Pick, they'll need new idents, otherwise it will all just look rather rushed and half-baked.
Problem is, if it was a late decision because of the football, and wasn't planned before the pandemic, then they haven't had time to make new idents. It'll look rushed, yes, but that's because it is.
And actually, while those lines do line up with the letter K in the channel name, they're NOT actually integral to the final transition - it's just a diagonal slide revealing the final image with the name already in place. The problem I see, actually, is that the Sky logo ended up too close to the left edge of the screen. But making it smaller wouldn't have covered up the existing logo, and it does have to be covered up if they don't have a logoless version of the ident footage and animation.
I suppose they could use most of the current ident sequences, and then just change the final lockup after the last transition to a centered logo with some of the footage in the background?
Come to think of it, doesn't More 4 have the same problem, the logo was changed, elements of the old logo are in the idents - and they didn't replace them?

That was my second thought, which didn't quite make it into my post. Given Pick SD still exists though, it doesn't explain a need to close down the +1.
If they do rebrand the channel, one can only hope it coincides with a schedule revamp. Currently from the channel starts until 6pm almost every weekday, it's wall to wall programmes about security, the police or border patrols. Then once we hit midnight it's more of the same until they close. They only actually run a 'decent' schedule between 6pm-midnight during the week. Zero effort seems to be put into its morning or afternoon schedules or the weekend which is just repeats of the weekday programmes at different times and in bigger blocks of the same programmes.
Also, there is a long shot (a very long shot) but perhaps the rebranding (if there is ever going to be one) is being saved so it won't go live until just before the football starts? But I don't see there being a rebrand or even the HD channel continuing after the football. Everything we've seen so far indicates temporary.
I think that's something you could say about a lot of channels, in fairness. In audience terms, the numbers don't really justify putting on a more varied schedule until primetime.
If
Pick is rebranded to include the Sky name, then you would think there has been a change of strategy and that -- once it's more closely associated with the brand -- Sky would perhaps give the rest of the schedule a boost.

I can't see a reason why they wouldn't have the files with no logo in them.

Sky are planning to launch Sky Arts on Freeview in the future so maybe creating some room for that?

I’ve always wondered that if the channel is meant to be seen as a ‘shop window’ for Sky then why do they insist on showing such cheap rubbish constantly.
