Merlin? That's a BBC show, why is it on Pick, and not, say, Drama?

It's also branded as 'The Adventures of Merlin' with a badly tacked on 'The Adventures of' which suggests to me it's the international version. NBC broadcast it in the US so perhaps Sky by extension now have the broadcast rights?

No it's just a simple case of Sky buying the rights to show it on Pick as they've done with many imports and other British shows in the past.

I've caught snippets of it over the last few weeks while it's been on. I didn't like it at the time but I'm amazed at how bad it was, really hammy, horrible special effects, really not an entertaining series.

It was being shown here on Syfy even before the Comcast merger, so I think you’re right there.

Pick+1 now showing a slide stating no longer available on Freeview.

Not sure if this is anything to do with the Com 8 closure? Most Com 8 closure channels stop from next Monday, so its a few days early for Pick+1 if this is the reason behind it?

Guess it they can't show the football on +1 they might as well close it a few days early if it was closing anyway.

Pick+1 was not among the channels announced as closing next week and never carried a warning message. It was only announced yesterday.

Incidentally, it was on COM7, not COM8, and with plenty of other channels closing, there was still space for it going forward.

NOW TV viewers already have SVoD content from Pick, although not the linear channel. That may change if and when it rebrands to Sky Pick.

Wheres the official announcement that it's rebranding to Sky Pick?

Apart from a few newspapers and the freeview twitter referring to Sky Pick, I dont/have not seen anything official from Sky.

Wouldn't that kill their 'x channels not on Freeview' advertisement line? I suppose they could just reduce x by 1.

EDIT: just remembered Sky News is already on both.

NOW TV also has Challenge VOD as part of the Entertainment pass. I think content from their Freeview channels were added after Comcast took over.

Don't think it needs to since the football will be on Sky One also.

If it is rebranding, I wonder how they'll handle the idents? Here's a quick mock up, covering up the current logo with the mock one from page 4 of this thread.
