All these shows rate well. Pick is normally the highest rated Sky channel during daytime. Kind of expected given that it's the only one on Freeview but it does mean that something in terms of advertising income during the day. In some daytime timeslots it's the most watched multichannel too. I don't expect them to be changing a winning formula anytime soon.
Plus I might be alone here but Nothing To Declare all morning is the perfect start to my Saturdays!
Pick being a Sky shop window is largely something consigned to the past, it's a channel in its own right that Sky use to make money out of shows that no longer hold as much value for their pay channels. They've had a handful of shows commissioned specifically for the channel in the past as well when they've identified a gap in the market/schedules that could make them a bit more money.
If they do rebrand the channel, one can only hope it coincides with a schedule revamp. Currently from the channel starts until 6pm almost every weekday, it's wall to wall programmes about security, the police or border patrols. Then once we hit midnight it's more of the same until they close. They only actually run a 'decent' schedule between 6pm-midnight during the week. Zero effort seems to be put into its morning or afternoon schedules or the weekend which is just repeats of the weekday programmes at different times and in bigger blocks of the same programmes.

I’ve always wondered that if the channel is meant to be seen as a ‘shop window’ for Sky then why do they insist on showing such cheap rubbish constantly.

I honestly still don't see how Pick HD is 'temporary'. Sure, we already have Sky One HD for those same matches (at times) for Sky TV/NOW TV customers but I think having Pick HD for those who only have Freesat makes sense. But to make that "HD" feed worth something for the viewer and to keep it around, I do agree Pick needs a re-scheduling compared to it's wall-to-wall crime shows during the daytime.
I don't think they closed Challenge +1 for nothing, honestly.

Also, there is a long shot (a very long shot) but perhaps the rebranding (if there is ever going to be one) is being saved so it won't go live until just before the football starts? But I don't see there being a rebrand or even the HD channel continuing after the football. Everything we've seen so far indicates temporary.

This is just curiousity what was the reason behind Sky dropping Sky 3 (well rebrand) to Pick? I thought it was that Sky couldn't have so many channels on Freeview or something like that (this was at the time I was on DigitalSpy).... as if I remember correctly originally on Freeview you had/have (using old names as such)..... Sky3/Pick, Sky Sports News (taken off Freeview) and Sky News

It was Sky not wanting to use the Sky brand on the channel in the same way that other pay TV brands were not used for Freeview: TMF being an MTV-lite service, Quest rather than Discovery Quest...
Sky was indeed limited to three services on Freeview, originally Sky News, Sky Sports News and Sky Travel, later Sky News, Pick and Challenge.

It is because Sky at the time didn’t want their “Sky” branding on free-to-air channels, except Sky News. They wanted to retain the branding for their premium offering.
Now Comcast are running the show that could now change...

Well Pick have shown loads of non-Sky/Premiere shows like The Chase, Police, Camrea, Action, Brit Cops: Rapid Response, Road Wars and more so it’s not unusual, plus given that they only repeat Merlin on anything but Freeview like SyFy, it’s nice to have it back on Freeview 🤓
Merlin? That's a BBC show, why is it on Pick, and not, say, Drama?

It seems like since Comcast took over for me it like Sky is becoming more open than closed to platforms, it can be a good thing if Sky is being able to come onto Freeview more openly.

Nah they never called it “Sky Pick” before, this is a new rebrand it seems...

I wouldn't read too much into it. They call Sky One, Sky 1...

Yet oddly enough they announce "sky pick" ?, I wonder if the Sky part will appear in one of these matches and refresh (doubt it but why not just say Pick as the channel is?)
example: Fri June 19: Norwich vs Southampton - 6pm, Sky Sports, Sky Pick

That's because none of tonight's games are on Pick. Here's the list on which ones you can watch on Pick: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12007316/premier-league-restart-how-to-get-sky-sports-to-watch-the-action

Yeah it’s cause they are gonna rebrand “Pick” to “Sky Pick” soon, although weirdly they haven’t officially announced it yet or when it’s gonna happen... 🤔

Turned on sky 159 pick expecting football and got Star Trek. Wtf?

Yet look how quick TMF/VIVA went under the MTV brand to then finally go (ok its under MTV OMG but the brand as it was before went) (surprised why Viacom hasn't thought of sticking an MTV channel on Freeview either!),
I wonder if that will be the next step is channels going for another rebrand ie Quest to say who they belong to (as such)... doubt it but who knows!

That's a nice mock. However, the 'k' in the current wordmark is an integral part of the idents and their transitions. It's not quite so easy as just sticking on a new style unboxed Sky logo. I suspect that if they're going to rebrand properly as Sky Pick, they'll need new idents, otherwise it will all just look rather rushed and half-baked.
Nah you’re thinking of the Pick TV Branding from 2011 as they used the “K” thing there and not on the current Idents 👇

If it is rebranding, I wonder how they'll handle the idents? Here's a quick mock up, covering up the current logo with the mock one from page 4 of this thread.
