It has been confirmed by Sky Help Team's Twitter account on Friday night.

How convenient that it starts close to the FTA coverage of the Premier League matches on Pick. I am not sure if it is a permanent decision though. Some on DS are saying that it may a temporary pop-up channel. Either way it is great news to read on a Saturday night.

Pick UK HD's satellite frequency on Sky & Freesat is available here.

12363 V 27500
FEC 2/3
S2 8PSK
SID 5829

And they've closed Challenge+1 for this?

Unrelated - that stream would be nowhere near enough space for a HD channel.

Unless it is launching on Freeview I don't see the point if it is purely to provide the football in HD considering they're simulcasting that on Sky One HD anyway, and as the help team quite rightly say if people want to see the football they wouldn't normally get in HD they can subscribe anyway.

Sky have said today that the football is on Pick SD only. Not on the HD channel. So what is the truth I wonder? Is Pick HD a temporary pop up channel or is it a permanent new channel?

Where have they said this? I wish they’d make their mind up!

Ok, that looks like that was posted before they later stated that the Premier League would be HD FTA after all, as shown above.

Surely that's an error on the part of whoever's running that Twitter feed. There's no way they'd launch an HD feed for Pick without it showing the football and I've got no doubt they'll end the channel as soon as they've shown all the matches.

This is some info Re: Pick from lovinthetelly on Digital Spy.

Quote:
12070H 5832 - Pick SD - will encrypt to FTV and show the Premier League games 'free' on Sky SD boxes.
11914H 5828 - Pick 'new' - will be FTA and show normal programming instead of the football. It's looking like Freesat will move over to this stream, and it'll likely be available somewhere on the Sky EPG too.
12148H 5530 - Pick Ireland - will remain FTA and also show normal programming in place of any Premier League matches.
12070H 5836 - Pick+1 - will remain FTA and show a timeshifted version of Pick 'new'/Pick Ireland programming.
12363V 5829 - Pick HD - will be FTA and show the Premier League games on HD Sky boxes & Freesat.

I know it is all a confusing mess. But this should make things a little more clearer.

Pick HD will apparently be Sky channel 895.

Let's also consider that Sky will be looking ahead to the last day of the season where there may be a situation where there will be multiple live games taking place across all channels, so they'll want Pick to be in HD for this purpose.

Assume it will actually be 159 and the SD version will be on 895.
And yes, also safe to assume there will be times when Sky One won't be simulcasting a PL match on Pick, such as the last day of the season.

Sky's Twitter/customer services team probably haven't been full briefed on all the details yet since the channel hasn't actually launched and there hasn't been any announcement. Would take anything they post with a pinch of salt.
