What's going on ? Jeremy Bowen in the week, now Philip Hayton. I presume Philip will be doing his usual slot on News 24 this afternoon.

Did Phil say he'd be doing the news later on as well at the end?

Erm, this is one of those interesting threads where someone who didn't see it has to guess what it's all on about. Am I to glean that Phillip did the news summary on One at 12pm?

Just seen Nicky's post, so I know about this now.
Look, BBC, if we're so desperate that Jeremy Bowen can do news at One (which even my nan said was awful!), then give the wonderful and experienced Phillip Hayton a chance - he'd be good on the One'o'clock. (I don't care about BBC World
).

I'm starting to miss the old BBC Newsreaders:
Diana Madill
Martyn Lewis
Edward Stourton

You won't be seeing much of Ed Stourton much in the future. He's been dropped by Correspondent, because of his affair with the programme's editor which led to him divorcing his wife. BBC bosses are reportedly not too pleased about Ed's actions, since he has 3 kids also.
Did you know that Philip Hayton released by the BBC to cover the Genoa summit as a stringer?

Phillip Hayton is one of the best presenters I've ever seen. He's incredibly professional and intelligent, and has a great sense of humour.
