My BBC sources tell me that Philip Hayton is moving over to News24 full time, probably taking Ben's old slot from 0900-1300. Not sure when, or even if it's definate, but one to look out for.

I heard this ages ago, but does anyone know when he's moving?

Where's Ben gone?

I believe Ben is now reporting for Newsnight.

It is not unusual for younger presenters to wish to return to reporting - Rebecca Jones also returned to news reporting after presenting for News 24.

Tell me, what slot did he use to fill (pun!)?

I've noticed Ben Geoghegan has been absent for some time now, so this must explain it all. I think Philip Hayton and Joanna Gosling would make a good 'presenting couple' for News 24 mornings (09:00-13:00).

This time 2 years ago it was Ben and Jackie Hargreaves - now this slot has completely changed I see.

What about the luvvly Chris Eakin - where will he go? Or are they changing the 'slots' so they are every 3 hours? e.g. 9-12 etc.

Jackie was excellent. They were so stupid to get rid of her

Oh, I was told not to mention this topic for a while yet!! Ah well its out now! I'm not sure when he's moving over. Mishal Hussein should be replacing Phil on BBC World.

Can anyone post a picture of Jackie Hargreaves? Just to refresh my memory as to who she is! Because I really can't remember.Smile

Good move BBC. Not only because I think he's great, but because he'll help the image of the channel. Let's face it - News 24 is a fantastic resource that all too few people are aware of. Philip Hayton's presence can only be a good thing.

Oh well Sad I'll miss Philip a lot on World. He's actually developed something of a reputation here in America for news junkies since his World bulletins are broadcast on BBC America/PBS. But if Mishal Hussein takes his place that's okay -- She's really good and I like her a lot - she could smile a little more though.

But I think Philip should be on the One or Six anyway, he's one of the Beeb's greatest assets.
