Its clear ITV are missing more shows like Candid Camera! Smile I think in todays ITV there isn't a focus on the involvement of the public (Hells Kitchen excluded) - more the involvement of Celebrities which is its downfall.

But hey, a great documentary. I like the way they've done the theme music - going through the decades.

Well that programme became very Granada heavy towards the end. Good programme none the less.

Let's hope the other programmes actual focus on the subject in hand and not "Isn't Granada wonderful!"

PS: Hands up all those who swore at Charles Allen when he appeared on TV, LOL! Smile

Pleasantly surprised actually.

BUT, it did have the undertone of "we're great now" that is natural...but I was hoping they'd be a little more self critical.

What really upset me though were comments such as "We still do the current affairs today" followed by a clip of World in Action signposted as ending in 1998. Says it all really...

Too much of a love-in for my liking. Dyke and Grade are never going to criticise the channel, nor is Allen of course! Where's the flipside?

My favourite bit though had to be where all mentions in the last 5 minutes were programmes in the last 2 years. Showing just how ITV still does what it always did. Riiiiiiiight.

Overall I thought it was okay, it was being a bit biased towards Granada, and they did show quite alot of recent clips, which hardly shows the Network at it's best, but otherwise I'm looking foward, Melvyn also mentioned that there's an episode on the Business off-screen at ITV, so that one will be worth a watch.

Some good clips used such as Coronation Street, Spitting Image, This Week, Minder, The Sweeney, World In Action, Hillsborough to name a few...

I noticed there wasn't much mention of our Cilla.

nice to see "central television", "carlton television" and "anglia television" in the credits, whilst poor old htv west didnt get its proper name back - credited as "itv west".

felt too much like a "50 greatest <insert anything> " clip show on channel 4 to me. wasnt really a rounded view of itv at all. meanwhile bragg goes further and further up his own arse.

Only the first in 5 remember. Focusing on Granada because no doubt as the show followed a overall timeline of looking at the first decade, Granada is the only company that was around at the start and is around now. For example there was no mention of Thames or LWT, this will of course come later.

although atv and abc were pretty big back in the first decade, and yet barely a mention. you would expect carlton (bless 'em) to re-write history, but it seems granada are pretty keen on doing so now.

Forgot about this - so it's probably not being repeated then!
