Ofcom are a joke. You might as well have no regulator.

The real villians of the piece are Tony's cronies, who created them.

It was created by an act of Parliament

they have a majority you know

What strikes me from watching this, is that ITV has been the peoples channel, giving the people what they want. In the 50s it was Robin Hood and Sunday night at the London Pilladium. Today however, Celebrity Love Island is what the people want. So it still is the peoples channel.

Unfortunately, us who moan about the state of ITV aren't the people. Well not the majority anyway.

A bit of Granada history here now, more than ATV, ABC and Rediffusion, it has been quite good so far.

Hmmm.... turning into a bit of a Corrie documentary now

Indeed, but 'cronies' aren't elected!

But they're still backing it up as the people's channel, doing the Vox pops and see how the General public react to it, which has been shown clearly. I think they're right to give a bit of time over to Corrie, it has helped ITV to be what it is today.

After they did a map of the original four regions, the first three disappeared and the Granada logo grew larger. A subtle dig at the loss of regionality, perhaps? Wink

I wonder if they'll even mention the smaller regions.

No, it was because the sequence that followed it was about the founding of Granada!

Patricia Hewitt.

dunno which post-modern definition you're using but I believe a crony is a friend who who shares interests or activities with another

Yes, but to be a 'crony' in political terms is to be put in a position of power because of friendship - i.e. a 'Tony Cronie' (and isn't it strange how you never heard of Majors/Thatcher or Heaths Cronies.... just because it didn't rhyme!) is someone who gained their position just because they are a friend of Tony Blair.

That's not the case with the 100's of MPs who passed the bill in the Houses of Commons and Lords
