Yes, the actual news topic was very short.

also interesting that regional news - one of itv's real strengths - a key part of the schedule every weekday for 50 years, was completely ignored.

Well yes I was also waiting for a mention of the regional news and [award winning] investigative programmes from this look-back on a regional network's current affairs output, but no.

Mind you I did notice an old Granada Reports logo included on a graphic with some of ITV's better remembered special news programming such as World In Action and Weekend World -- which was humorous at least.

i found it slightly disapointing as they only showed a few brief clips of the modern itv news. i thought they might show how the technology has evolved over the years.

it isn't the BBC you know, where they wheel out Huw Edwards to talk about himself and "preparing for his bulletin" *cough ego trip cough* at the opening of a crisp packet.

Yes I noticed that. It was on the same screen as the one and only reference to Tyne Tees programming in this entire series -- Face The Press, which it seems they couldn't be bothered to find a graphic of, despite it being mentioned, and a clip shown, in virtually every TTTV anniversary programme since the year dot.

UTV did contribute to The People's Channel series, in one of the montages about how ITV is committed to local broadcasting (ha!) in the first episode they showed a brief clip from "Kelly", and UTV were even credited at the end.

I'm sure if Sunday's edition had bothered to deal with ITV's regional news there would have been more UTV material featured.

They should have done the first one about gameshows and if they wanted to do news,it should have been local news.
