As part of my final year at Bournemouth University I am undertaking a research project looking into whether using companion apps can enhance TV dramas.

Currently apps seem to only focus on entertainment and sport and i think very little has been done to introduce the concept to dramas. I would really appreciate it if you could take your time to complete my questionnaire so I can gain a better idea of why viewers watch television dramas and what they desire from companion applications.

Also if you have any opinions on my research such as whether companion would enhance the viewing experience for dramas please post them below, I would be really interested to hear your thoughts.

Thanks

Well, I'd love to, but apparently the opinions of us old fogies aren't wanted Sad

If people are messing about with apps they're not really watching the drama are they.

Drama is meant to be engaging - entertainment and sport programmes require a lot less full-on concentration, so are suited well to multi-tasking.

I don't think anyone is suggesting messing about. Just imagine if you could use an app to help Columbo solve a crime or place bets on whether a character would live or die in Holby City. What about an EastEnders companion app that uses voice recognition. While watching Danny Dyer you could say "What is Ian Beale doing right now?" and the app would show you footage of Ian Beale having his dinner. This is the future of television and I can't wait.
