Don't you get bored of it?

That old trick which tells it all: changing the subject.

Skyfan: Two honest questions:

1) Why should households have to pay £20+/month for content on Sky, when Sky show adverts? Shouldn't the adverts cover the cost of the imported programmes?

2) What alternative is there to the licence fee, when it covers things which are not commercially viable and wouldn't exist without the licence fee, but are each used by thousands of people (local non music based radio, local TV news, UK based childrens production, and many more examples on previous pages)? Commercials wouldn't work either as that would reduce the incomes of the other commercial channels, causing an even bigger seperation of funds.

The licence fee may not be ideal, but it's the best of a group of bad options, and without the BBC not being under direct commercial pressures the entire broadcast landscape in the UK would be far worse. We have some of the most varied and successful television and radio broadcasters on the planet broadcasting in this country, something virtually unheard of in any other country this size.

i'd be interested to know exactly what it is you love to watch on sky - because when you remove the bbc and uktv portfolio of channels, you're not left with an awful lot, aside from imported american stuff.

For shows like
LOST,24, NEW Simpsons,Stargate,Bones,Lie To Me,Ghost Whisperer,Warehouse 13,Dollhouse,Fringe,Futurama,A Town Called Eureka,Modern Family,Souh Park,Two & A Half Men,Eastbound & Down,Burn Note,Cold Case,and much more too

And not one of them is British or even European is it? Jon asked what you'd get apart from 'imported American stuff'. The issue is that the BBC is the major producer/commissioner of British content, without it we'd be drowning in a sea of American imported rubbish

I would not want to see too much British made on SKY 1 as thats not why most people get SKY and a big NO to European made shows. I think most people would not like European shows on British TV.

Like Big Brother or Deal or No Deal?

The language barrier is all that stops us from importing from the European mainland, and if they all spoke English, you can be sure that the Sky schedules would be full of whatever was cheapest.

He purports to be 36 years old elsewhere but a quick look at his writing style and his marvellous youtube videos indicate he either is, or has the mental capacity of someone less than half that age. See: http://www.youtube.com/user/JGBAJD#p/u/14/W_WGJ0tFa_g for an indication of just how obsessed he is. I wonder what it is that causes someone to become so completely infatuated with a commercial entity that owes him nothing?

Skyfan, do you fancy answering my questions about what the BBC could do to make itself better value for yourself? I know you claim not to use the BBC, yet a quick look at your history here and elsewhere shows you enjoy Dr Who, Merlin, Heroes, and have used the BBC iPlayer on your Wii. At what point would the BBC become value for money for your parents £11 or so a month? Aside from calling themselves Sky 4/5 etc that is.

Another question that would be of value to me to find the answer to would be do you look at the programme listings and automatically dismiss anything on the BBC because its on the BBC? Isn't that not limiting your interests if you do?

Yeah lets dismantle the British TV production industry and just show programmes from America - what a cultural disaster that would be - crappy sitcoms making baffling jokes about Twinkys to screaming canned laughter

As I said, your posting style is characteristically unique. Will you deny you posted an almost identical thread to this one over on digitalspy with the username 'sky is tops"? It would be too much a coincidence for it to be anyone other than you.

P.S fancy answering any questions to further this honest debate you so desire?

Carry on, but everyone's denial of someone trying to oppose the License Fee is not going to get rid of me. Im here to show my opinion.

And yes, lets go with these questions. It wont be me that will look stupid at the end. So carry on.
