When Terry Wogan appeared in November on Paul's show he said that he would be making another hundred or so of Perfect Recall.

Since Perfect Recall was only on the air for around 30 shows since early January, for the rest of 2009 it seems Wogan's Perfect Recall will be the filler for 5pm. Apparently it has received good ratings.

Maybe this is what they will replace Paul with if he leaves next year?

ITV1 have said they will not do anymore 5pm chatshows and maybe Channel Four will do the same and have gameshows instead?

Perfect Recall has got another 30 episodes to run of the series filmed at the end of 2008, with another 60 ordered for the rest of this year and possibly into 2010. As this article says, they have four pilot shows for the 5pm slot between DOND and Come Dine With Me, so it looks like Paul will alternate with Come Dine With Me and either Perfect Recall or the pilots.

Next time Paul is off The Coach Trip and Come Dine with Me are running in the 5pm hour, so Perfect Recall will likely be held back until later in the summer.

While Perfect Recall could probably run all year round quite easily, I think they'd be a bit of a danger with overkill with Come Dine with Me, which has very much been a sleeper hit up until the last year or so, just airing for a few weeks a year.

Come Dine With Me has put/are putting hundreds of episodes in the can - or at least, that's what I gather given I keep getting emails asking me if I want to partake.

I don't, incidentally.

Well Paul returned yesterday and no new look just the same tired format. I think this will defintley be his last year on Channel Four.

I saw that someone wrote in and said they were unhappy at reports he was leaving and he said his contract was up at Christmas but didn't say if hed sign a new one.

The show needs a complete overhaul. Even I a big fan of the show would have liked a new look and new feel to the show. It feels so tired now that I did not bother to watch all of the show. Seems there is no sponsor this year too for the show.

The question is how do you change a show that is basically chat with guests with a few bits of sketches without totally changing the show?
They did change the titles for the September series and the set was new last March, unless they actually get rid of the guests, what more can they do?

To me the best parts of the programme are the letters and the generation game style games, and I don't understand why parts such as the letters part are cut short to show someone at a chocolate factory.

The guest selection is key to how the show works. Monday's guests were boring, but tonight had a wide range of guests who were entertaining.

I agree, the letters with Buster can be the most entertaining part, the VTs of a dinnerlady learning to thatch a roof are the least entertaining part

It would never happen and wouldn't be that feasible, but there's kind of a great half-hour show trying to get out of a sometimes patchy hour-long show.

Went to see the Paul O'Grady Show get filmed today for Thursday's broadcast with Jimmy Osmond, Natalie Cassidy and a 12-year-old opera singer, and boy is it going to be a good broadcast!

Part 3 at the start, Jimmy takes the p*** out of me for something I did in the break...

BUT, Paul is NOT leaving Channel 4 - he was telling everybody that what was printed in the newspapers was a load of "old bollocks [...] it's the f**king credit crunch, so why would I go anywhere?!" He did say that there was a lot of changes coming to the show "maybe before Christmas!".

I did get a Nodding Buster though!

Anyway, let's just say a messy, drunken (part 2) Paul is a lot more fun!

Would be interesting to see then how much gets edited out.

I reckon Paul should move the show to a late night slot - i.e. Graham Norton. Channel 4 are missing a daily show like that now.

I'm assuming he said this off air and not during the actual show?
